....in my G19. Wow...instantly impressed. I'm near sighted and w/o my glasses, I was able to pop a coke bottle off of a post at about 60' with instant acquisition.
A few nights ago, I heard a noise outside and saw my motion floods were lit. I was really taken aback after realizing how long it took me to get set to go out. After reading lots of feedback, I decided on Lasermax. I like the fact it's not going to limit my holster choices and the switch is simple to activate.
I can't wait to go shooting tomorrow, although I doubt I'll be using the laser for practice much at the range (well after the new wears off anyway). It's going to be interesting to see the difference in the results I'm sure.
Judy had exactly the same enthusiasm with the LaserMax added to her G19!
To date, and several thousand rounds later, the unit has been flawless--and it's still on the same batteries!
Enjoy!

Have any of you had the lasermax unit turn off after a few shots? I've got one for my G27 and sometimes it will shut off after I fire it.

I have a Lasermax on my G19. Watch your thumb/finger position during shooting. I've hit the switch a couple of times during shooting and shut it off. Anyone having problems pulling both sides of the slide lock down when disassembling? Very difficult unless you have bricklayer hands!

I just replaced my gtl21 for a lasermax on my 19 and am having the same trouble sliding both sides down to strip it. Must take some getting used to. However, I am completely happy with the quality so far.
(1st post) :whistling:
Make sure the L-shaped slide lock spring is fully seated. That aside, it does take finger strength to draw both sides down.

Could someone post a picture of the Lasermax on/off switch on their gun?

The info provided is helpful. I tried again to get on Lasermax site and it must be down. When I was on, it said the G30 took the LMS 1191 and not the LMS 1151 mentioned in the article. Any idea what the difference is/was?
My question concerns the guide rod on the new G30 and what is provided by Lasermax. Is a new guide rod(assembly for the laser and batteries) plus the springs provided? Since Lasermax site didn't supply install instructions for the G30 I would have to depend on one of the members and later a contact with Lasermax.
Thanks

Hi! Sorry to take so long getting back to you.
1) LMS 1191 is the current LaserMax model for G29 and G30.
LMS 1151 is the LaserMax model for G20 & G21, featured in the article (my G21 uses the 1151PFGR).
2) LaserMax provides everything needed for complete installation, including a special tool to push the new slide lock (L-shaped) spring into place.
The laser itself comes assembled, with batteries installed.
With a new unit you get:
. Guide Rod Assembly With Captive Spring (Assembled)
. New Slide Lock Lever--Which Doubles As On/Off Switch
. New Slide Lock Lever/On & Off Switch Spring
. Tool To Press Slide Lock Spring Into Place
Hmmm... The OEM website works for me: http://www.lasermax.com/
Aside from the error (wrong LaserMax number for G30), the article covers installation pretty well--and has better pictures. Some parts appearances have evolved...
http://www.commtechreview.net/firearms/lasermax.htm
After the gun is field stripped, and the OEM guide rod removed, you will:
1) Remove The OEM Slide Lock
2) Remove The OEM Slide Lock Spring
3) Install The LM Slide Lock Spring--Do This Carefully To Position The Spring Right
4) Install The LM Slide Lock--With Red Markers Facing The Shooter
5) Pop In The Assembled LM GUide Rod Unit Taking Care To Orient The Cap Properly
That's it. It should work!

:supergrin:Again, thanks for the info.
Received my 1191 Monday, installed it and went to the range. As you indicated, install was quick and simple. Some observation:
The Red Laser light is not as bright as the Crimson Trace I have on a S&W but is more than adequate. Battery size for the space is the problem.
Since the laser in just under the barrel, I found the accuracy, at least out to 60' is spot on whereas the CT which sits to the side on a S&W is excellent for a specific distance but grows very inaccurate in distances shorter/longer than where you have adjusted it for.
I was using a High Noon Holster IWB soft sided appendix carry http://www.highnoonholsters.com/Product_Line/Belt_Holsters/Inside_The_Waistband/inside_the_waistband.html but found because of the soft side, the guide rod switch would get pushed in and turn on and I wouldn't know it. Contacted LaserMax and they are sending me a shortened switch. Hopefully it works as I realyy like the holsters.
So far LaserMax tech info/help has been excellent.
The springs LaserMax uses are from Wolf
If anyone out there has a Glock and has older eyes, even with the G night sights, the LaserMax addition plus alittle practice, is going to really open your eyes as to how well and accurate one can shoot.

1) Always happy to help!
2) Understood. Let us know if this fixes the problem. Another poster drilled a precision hole in his holster, to facilitate a fix to the same problem.
3) Judy and I would agree completely!
Thanks for the well written range report! :wavey:

I would like to get one of these for my new 23 that i carry, but I have always wanted to know...
Has anyone ever pulled there gun from the holster and the laseremax already on? I'm worried that it will turn on and sit in the holster and the batteries will die, leaving it useless if I ever needed it??? I carry in the small of my back, and constantly lean and sit on the guy.
Any light shed would be appreciated.
Thanks

Yes, I've read posts from a few LaserMax owners that in certain situations have inadvertently activated their lasers in their holsters.
One guy was walking around a Wal-Mart when somebody asked about the red dot by his feet!
At least one guy successfully modified his holster by drilling a precise hole to take pressure off of the switch.
I can understand your concern with dead batteries! I guess that's partly why these gizmos should always be secondary to basic marksmanship skills. :faint:

If you call LaserMax and explain the problem, they will send you a shorter pin that you push from either side to activate the laser . . . I'm waiting for mine. I would do that before I cut up the holster,
The problem seem to only happen with a very soft sided holster because the kydex and harder leather holsters do not seem to cause the problem.
I have one in my 92FS. Works fine, but after a mag or two, you can barely see the dot, due to burned powder on the lens. It's also lower power than crimson trace.
Yeah, the cleaner burning ammos go a long way here...
At any rate, should you ever call it to duty, I certainly hope the matter's settled after one or two magazines!

I installed one on my G23. Initially I had a problem with the unit. I phoned their customer service and they corrected the problem over the phone. I did not install the switch properly.
It has been flawless ever since. Going on two years and a couple of hundred rounds fired.
I tried a new Lasermax on my G19 yesterday. It worked for the most part, but it did turn off at one point. I checked the switch and cycled it a couple of times, still didn’t work. Then I racked the slide and it came back on. I guess this is the problem described on the Lasermax website for which they will supply a new battery cap and slide lock lever. I ordered my update a week ago, haven’t received anything yet. Hopefully soon.
I had tried a Lasermax on my G22 a couple of years ago, and it broke almost immediately. I do like the concept, so I’m hoping they’ve improved the design since then. Hopefully this battery cap and slide lock lever update will make it dependable.

Need to get the advice of those with lasermax experience:
A few years ago I purchased a slightly used G19 with a lasermax installed. I love the laser. But I am in need of some cash and have decided to sell the lasermax...but keep the G19.
I have the original lasermax box from the former owner. In it was my pistol's standard guide rod and slide lock. There was no special tool and no slide lock spring. I have removed the laser and replaced it with with my guide rod.
What now? Is the lasermax slide lock spring different from a standard spring? Should I just buy a standard glock slide lock spring? That should be easy. But any suggestions for how I can get the lasermax slide lock spring out and the standard spring back in without the "tool"? Would a paperclip, small allen wrench, or something like that work just as well?
Thanks.

Yes, you'll need a Glock slide lock spring and yes, an allen wrench (or something similar) could be used as the tool. Check out these "quick install" instructions at lasermax.com. Pretty straight forward.

thanx for the reviews. I am holding out for the Sabre series for my G26. With the laser in the guide rod, I am too concerned about the lens getting dirty and affecting the laser beam...
Anyone have any updates on the Sabre series?

shot the prototypes this morning. Shoots great much less wobble than the competition. We had both a right and left handed shooter shooting it to compare how the dot may shift from squeezing the grip at different angles. You guys are going t love the final results.
