Well I couldn't control myself today.
I just had to buy another Glock, a G19 Gold Edition.

when did this come out? never seen or heard of the Gold Edition.
What makes is special besides the gold badge and jeweled barrel hood?

I had never heard of it until I saw it Saturday. I went back today and got it. I have googled it and don't see any info. The gun shop told me there were 300 G19s and 300 G17s

That's interesting, I would have said it's not factory but then I saw the gold seal and you would have thought someone on the boards would have heard about it. very intriguing, or a guy who knows a guy that makes stickers.

can you take some pics to show the glossy finish? did it come with extended controls? see it also comes with night sights.

They have them in a 23 also it has a shine on the slide the one I seen was not black slide it was shining.
I'm starting to think it was done by a distributor and not Glock.

Sorry I had trouble getting the pictures to show up properly. The 'Glock' on the right side is in gold. The slide is like a blued gun except it is black.
Have more pictures from different angles?

I seen them at the gun show in raleigh this past weekend. The guy had 3 model 19's for 600 each. The gloss black slide did look pretty sweet. I almost bought one but couldn't justify the price.

Well he had them priced at 640 plus tax but said he could do 600 plus tax. It is the most beautiful Glock I have ever seen.

my local shop wants over 6 for a standard Glock. :shocked:

Me too but maybe there is no where else to go in the world of handguns so they look to making small frames to gather more crowds.
Probably a distributor perk job. Just like my "Homeland Defender" Glock 23. It was an Ellett Brothers thing, and it came with 4 mags, Trijicons and a GTL10 light. $620

No where else to go, let's see:
People have been wanting a single stack version of all the 9's and 40's for quite some time, they've wanted a carbine (sorry kittens), they've wanted long slide .357's, 45's and 10's, a Glock shotgun would be great, perhaps models with an external safety option ala USP, interchangable backstraps (I know this is only an enhancement, and not a new product per se, but thousands of people have complained about grip angles of the Glocks), etc, etc, etc.
Even though I'm not a SIG shooter, SIG doesn't seem to think that there is nowhere else to go with handgun designs (they've put out a ton of new models over the last 5 years, including a modular pistol that is completely customizable to the user in the P250), as well as a civilian carbine.
I think there are still many opportunities to come up with new products. I think it all comes down to: Glock is acting like Colt, and the other manufacturers out there are acting like the Glock of the early 1980's - creating new products to fill a need.
Perhaps SHOT will renew my faith in the R&D department at Glock. I hope they haven't actually bought into the "Perfection" crap that they've been brainwashed with for over 20 years. All we've really gotten over the last few years is the GAP offerings (big mistake) and a reworked G21 model that has the backstrap the shape/size it should have been created with to begin with. Now I hear rumors of a reworked G30. If that's all that comes out this year, part of me will be disappointed, and the other part of me will not be surprised.

If it was worth $670 to YOU, then who cares what others on here thinks? The bottom line, you thought it was worth it... thats all that matters.

of this. I called my local gun store and he never heard of it.
Does anyone have a part number for this version? I really like it and would want one
for myself.

Yep, I was there Saturday too. I managed to walk out Saturday without buying it but Monday morning it was calling to me. When I went back Robb twisted my arm and wouldn't let me leave without buying it.

I've got a g23 exactly like this. bought it brand new, $599. Installed a TLR-2 and extended slide rls, looks very nice.
