Just bought a new G30!!! Had them put on a Pierce extension on one mag and I'm saving the other mag for a Sherer. I have size 13 hands so I need the extra length. The Pierce feels ok, but I could use just a tad more length. How do you Big dawgs like or dislike either one. Which to you big handed folks is the most comfortable? What about quality of the Sherer? Thanks.

ps. I'm pleased there's a dedicated section for the 30.

Come on, surely someone has tried both.

I'm puzzled.

IIRC, for the G30, there are 9-round magazines and there are 10-round magazines. The 9-rounders fit flush with the grip while the 10-rounders are a bit longer and extend below the grip (maybe 1/2" or so). The 10-round magazine itself is longer; there is no "extension", per se. The standard 10-round magazine floor plate has been molded with a smooth finish while the Pearce replacement floor plate has a textured "grenade-type" finish. Both 10-round floor plates are the same length.

I replaced both of my smooth 10-round magazine floor plates with the Pearce textured floor plates.

If there is an extension which provides a length greater than the standard 10-round magazine, I'm not aware of it.

I looked at both of these at a gun show today.

The only Scherers I found were loose, ie not in a box, and may have been used. The finish on the Scherer was shiny and almost slick, this could be b/c they were used. The checkering on the Scherer didn't look like it would match the rest of the finger grooves on my 30 (was carrying a wheelgun today so I couldn't verify this). I think it was also a bit taller than the Pierce, but this could be because the shape is different. The bottom of the Scherer is flat, the bottom of the Pierce has a lip that hangs down to make the pinky grip taller while keeping the floor at stock height.

I got one Pierce to try, I put it on tonight and I love it. The finish matches the rest of the gun and the checkering is very similar to the other grips so it looks/feels like it's stock. The stock pinky grip is pitiful next to the Pierce, I'm gonna get another one when I can find one. Pierce's for the G30 seem to be rare, none of my local shops had any (lots for the 26/27, etc) and at the show I only found 2, both at the same booth.

Highcap, the Pierce is definitly an improvement over stock for my hams and looks great to boot. Like you've said, I've heard the Sherer doesn't blend with the gun as well as as the Pierce. The Sherer is supposed to be a bit longer. Like you, the Pierce felt like a big improvement in feel over the stock floor plate to me. I'll order the Sherer and try it along with a plug that fills the gap between the floorplate and the backstrap. They're pretty cheap. I just wanted to know if anyone had tried both. Thanks.

Catbird, the Sherer is longer than the stock floor plate (10 rounder).Glockmeister or Topglock show the Pierce and the Sherer side by side as a comparison. How the Sherer feels, I don't know. I could use just a hair more lenghth to make it perfect. I noticed what you were talking about when I bought the Pierce, not much difference in lenghth, between Pierce and stock 10 rounder, but the finger groove on the Piece did improve the comfort considerably. Thanks

Yes, I see that now. Thank-you for setting me straight. ;)

The Scherers don't work worth a darn. They're ugly, ill fitting, and don't even hold the extra round. I bought them first, and had to return them for the Pearce ones.

I finally broke down and put the Pearces on the second mag yesterday; they're just so much better than stock, and you only add an extra 1/2". Now the gun is virtually the same size as a G19. Wow.

Can't help ya. My hands are small, the 10-rounder standards fit perfectly.

Wups. My experience with the mag extensions has been with the G36, not the 30. Missed that at the top of the thread, sorry.

That said, my experience with them mirrors what many have said about the extension for the G30, too... :)
