View Full Version : Tac light/laser questions

Well, I've been doing alot of reading/searching/surfing on the tactical light and laser combo's and I'm almost ready to buy one... but I'm not sure which one will be the best... I THINK I want to go LED because of battery life and flood effect for indoors(this will very possibly see duty time and if I need long range or spotting I have my hand held to cover that) but I would really like to hear some reviews from both sides...
I see a lot of lumen ratings but I also have read "my 65 lumen light was actually brighter than my 90 lumen" are these rating embellished for marketing? Which ones have you guys found to be the brightest?
This is probably my biggest concern as far as the laser end goes... once it's zero'd in does it stay? If I pull it off my 19 for off duty carry and then put it back on for a night shift will it still have the same accuracy as when I set it?
Any and all reviews are welcome! Thanks!

I've carried the M6 in the past. I now carry the TLR-1. The M6 worked great and the laser held a good enough zero that I wasn't concerned.
I wouldn't recommend using the laser for anything other then SHTF point shooting. Otherwise use your sights.
As far as 65 lumens being brighter then 90 lumens, I dont see how that is even possible unless the reviewer put in his $.02.
65 will do the job. LED's are superior then incandecent (IMHO). Op time, durability. I would suggest the TLR-2.

I agree about the LED if you are in a house or building because of the flooding just not so great outside - which is why I think I want to go that route.... as far as the laser... in daylight and range I can't help but use my sights but in low light it's rather intimidating... that and I don't have night sights(on purpose)...
Yes, that was absolutely the reviewers opinion... but I have read that from a couple people...
What kind of battery life do you get from your TLR and when you carried your m6 did you leave it on all the time or frequently take it off?
Thanks alot!
I have the TLR-2 on my 23 and it's got a sweet beam and wash. The light is great for HD and the laser is a superb deterrent when seen by a BG.
I also use the laser for Dry Firing keeping the red bead on a tiny dot across the room. I think it's a great way to practice.

have you had any issues with laser remaining zeroed after being removed then reinstalled?

Well I went ahead and bought one... I decided on the M6X. I wish I had the $$$ to buy all three(M6X, TLR-@, Glock) and see which one I liked best but you all know how that goes... Anyways I'll be glad to do a review when it gets here. Thanks alot for all the input.
Matt
Not that I've seen thus far. I have been keeping an eye on that although.
