Flash suppressor / can adaptor combo

I am considering buying a can for an AR with a 16" barrel. I am also considering (seperately) buying a short barrelled (12" plus or minus) upper for a SBR.
My question is this: I wantto cut the barrel on my 16" upper back and permanently attach a flash suppressor, so that the total length just exceeds 16". I believe that there are flash suppressors that are used as can mounting devices. Are they matched to a specific can? Or are there "industry-wide" ones in use? :dunno:
If they are specificly matched, what can would be recommended that comes with a mounting system as described?

Flash suppressors/Suppressor attachments are all over the place right now.

Some suppressors will mount to a standard A2 flash suppressor.

Then there is the YHM adapter.

Gemtech has their own adapter (bi-lock). (I really like my Bi-lock suppressor in 308.)

I would suggest either.
1. Use a standard flash suppressor. (This is not the most accurate system.)
2. Buy the suppressor before making the decision on the flash suppressor.
