Buddy of mine and I got into a discussion.

I've heard the 10/22T is more accurate than the stock 10/22.

Am I wrong.

Can the stock $150 10/22 with the 18" barrel with a scope give you similar accuracy at 50 yards compared to a similarly equipped 10/22T?

Or is it relative?

If the 10/22T is the one with the factory bull barrel, that looks like it was hammer forged in a spiral, then I have shot it and the 10/22, and off hand, the T was more stable, due to the weight. I don't know, if you put them both on a sandbag, they might equal out in the short go.

I just got a 1022T and was able to shoot about 3/4 inch groups at 50 yards. I only shot one type of ammo, Remington/Eley, and the trigger isn't as good as I hoped it would be, but much better than the standard trigger. It is capable of shooting as good as am capable for steel targets.

I feel that the T is more acurate out of the box than the standard 10/22s. However, the parts on the T are not very high end though. You can easily pick up a standard pull the stock and barrel and replace them with good priced aftermarket stuff, then swap the hammer for a Volquartsen model. In the end you'll wind up with a more accurate rig than the T for about the same money. I got a Green Mountain 18" stainless steel bull barrel and it shoots wonderfully. It gives the rifle that heavy front end that points nice and is very accurate. I've done better than 3/4" at 50 yards and haven't yet tried shooting anything other than some crap Remington rounds I had lying around. I think I paid around $80 for that. I replaced the stock with a laminated Boyd's Dakota Will that I refinished myself, though they offer a finished model, and it looks and feels great. That cost me about $80 more. I sold the original barrel and stock for around $90 on Ebay. They were synthetic and stainless. Overall, I'm very happy. Between those mods and some trigger work, including a Vq hammer I've built up a rifle that is more than satisfactory in accuracy.
