I really cannot decide on a weapon mounted light! I just want one for around the house at night to dispatch critters trying to get my chickens. I need BRIGHT and I would like one that would attach well to either a picatinny or glock rail. I'm really having a hard time with this decision. Help!
There's only one for a glock! The surefire x300. Believe me! Super bright with a nice tight beam. Fits nicely on the Glock rail and easy to use without any attachments for instant on/off. 110 lumens!!!!!

But the x300 is just soooo expensive! Now that I look at it, the x300 is exactly what I am looking for. The price tag is pretty disgusting though. Can't rationalize droppin 225$ for it.
Battery life is pretty amazing...2.5 hours?!

Or save yourself $150 and get the TLR-1.
90 lumens, 2.5 hours battery life. I carry one daily on my G22 for work, you cant go wrong.
Trust me, you wont be disappointed.
Here she is with the TLR-1 and a pic of the beam in my family room...

If you're using a Glock against critters... get a G2 ($35) and learn to use a Harries grip. Same effect.

$225 is cheap what is your life worth.

Yea can't go wrong until it breaks 1 week past the crappy warranty period. Stick with Surefire and you can't go wrong.

I didn't say this is to defend myself, you'd know that if you read my original post. More like..."What are the lives of my chickens worth?"

I am sorry I did not read all the posts. But I still feel its best to buy quality. Every Streamlight product I have owned has gone bad.

In reality the TLR-1 is more like 60 lumens.
The good thing about the TLR-1 is that it's easy to modify. You could have a brighter LED put in by an experienced flashlight modder.
Get the glock GTL 10 i got mine for 100.00 but you can get them off e-bay for 80.00

Well every Streamlight weapon light I have owned but one has broken and Streamlight only fixed the one that broke within 6 months. Their customer service sucks and their products are not that great. Count me in on the Surefire Kool aid.

I have two Streamlight Stinger rechargeable 'hazardous environment use' flashlights. They have been used for over FIVE YEARS of PROFESSIONAL use. They are used daily. When one runs out I switch it for the freshly charged one. I am a mechanic, these things have been dropped from five feet onto solid concrete flooring thousands of times. Sometimes the bulb eventually gets loose, I unscrew the cap and reinsert it. The original Ni-Cad batteries still work fine. I have yet to replace a bulb. The anodized coloring is worn through in many places, but these things still shine. I really want to buy the newer LED version, but these won't die. They have been submerged in oil, coolant, driven over, and cursed at.
I can't knock them.
[TLR-1] ...does everything the Surefire does for $150.00 less..
So keep drinking the Surefire koolaid boys they need people like you.
That's fairly insulting, but we'll gloss right over it.
In the future, assume that we SureFire customers are as smart as you are.
See below pic from this thread showing TLR-1 performance...
See below pic of SureFire X200B performance...
Those doors (Pic 1) and that chair (Pic 2) are a similar distance from the camera. Can you honestly say you're seeing the same performance? Enough said.
With that settled, check out the last pic--the SureFire X200A. This light is best for outdoor use, with a projector beam easily good for 200+ feet.
The new X300 appears to balance the performance of both the X200 A&B.
And the SureFire X-series are built better than the TLR-1. From the hard anodizing, to the bodies milled from aircraft aluminum bar stock, to the micro-textured reflectors (X200B) and TIR lenses (X200A), they just are.
The TLR-1 is a great light. It is a great value. It is plenty for most users. But it no way "does everything the Surefire does for $150.00 less".
Words mean things.

Wow I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the insight m3x at just over 100$. I have had mine for a few years and it has performed flawlessly and the controls are perfect, but out of curiosity what do you guys think the x-300 and trl offer above and beyond an m3x? I have no experience with either
I have an Insight Technology M3X light and think highly of it. I have found it to work when needed and will continue to use it. Before the entire weapon mounted lights got popular you would see everyone with a Streamlight M3. The Streamlight M3 was made by Insight Technology and everyone loved them. Multiple Law Enforcement agencies have purchased them and continue to use them. Streamlight, Insight Technology and Surefire all have a minimum of 20 years in the flashlight business.
As a Police Officer myself I will continue to lean on Streamlight being I have several of their products. I am very pleased and I don't feel you can go wrong with them. I use them on a daily basis and my life depends on them.
The Insight Technology M3X has a 125+ lumens peak output. I noticed this right out of the package. I will say that I'm happy with the M3X and will continue to use it. It comes down to personal preference. Some like Streamlight. Some like Surefire and some like Insight Technology. It may come down to price with some people. I am a firm believer in not skimping on equipment that could come down to saving your life or the life of someone else. But I would rather someone buy a reputable light from at a price they can afford rather then not have one at all.
Yea can't go wrong until it breaks 1 week past the crappy warranty period. Stick with Surefire and you can't go wrong.
Pat
Streamlight has a lifetime warranty and an "even if you break it" clause.
As far as the lights, I recommend the TLR-1 or TLR-2 if you want a laser. No it's lumen rating isn't as high as surefires, but 80 lumens in the face blinds you, what is 110 gonna do? blind you "better" ? Plus it's half the price, easily had at under 100$.

Anyone here ever see/use the Insight Technology's SSL-1? Been looking at that, have found it under $90. Would love to get the X-300 myself, but the wife wouldn't like to see that receipt!

In the future, assume that we SureFire customers are as smart as you are. Chill out have some more kool aid, nevermind I see you have already had too much. post #9 http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=810621

I know Thats why I say the TLR-1 does everything that the overpriced over rated Surefire does for $150.00 less. Hows that grab you? By chance do you own a Surefire EW-04 Delta? Have a nice day.

Sorry but you are wrong unless they recently changed this. I have had to work with their warranty department 3 times only once did they cover the costs. Their customer service is a joke.
