View Full Version : 45ACP can on 9mm gun
Anyone running a 45ACP suppressor on a 9mm gun?
Let see how to put it. I have a 45ACP suppressor and a gun setup to use it.. I own several 9mm guns. I don't have the funds to buy a 9mm suppressor right now.
I am thinking about getting my 9mm guns threaded barrels and then work out an adapter for the 45 ACP can. How dumb is this idea?
I'm afraid it'll be a waste of time and money. The larger bore diameter of the .45 can will be so oversized it won't really suppress the gas it will need to.
It's also possible that any adapter you have made will not allow the function of the necessary suppressor piston to function the action of an unlocking barrel system.
Any money going towards this project would be much better spent going towards a dedicated Evolution 9 or Trident.
When I shoot 22 BR or 243 through my 308 can, its actually quieter.
No clue if a pistol can might be the same.

It will be quiter , but not by much. It will not be efficient, the 40 would be closer but still not like it is with a 45
It depends on the can. I have found that a large-volume .45 subgun can (CAC45 in this case) on a MAC10/9mm sounds pretty much the same as the 9mm model of the same can. From what I understand, the Vector .45 Uzi silencer sounds no different than the 9mm can when shooting 9mm through either.
If you are talking about a pistol can, the difference may be more noticeable.

Yeah dont forget about Gemtech too.
They just released a new 9mm can a few days ago.

Save your cash for a 9mm can.

I disagree to a point. The OP says he already has the .45 can, and he is thinking of threading some of his 9mm guns.
Go ahead and get your barrels threaded and pick up a thread adapter (do a google search for TROS - Mark McWillis.)
In other words, he will need to thread his 9mm guns anyway. Might as well get that done and try it out with the can he already owns. Then he can play with that while waiting on the transfer of his 9mm can.
