I am not currently a Glocker but have owned the G23 a few years ago. The 40 was a bit snappy for my taste and I sold it.
At the Dallas gunshow a few weeks back I had the opportunity to hold a G38. Unlike the G19 and the G23, the G38 felt perfect in my hand. I was considering the round before this time but now I'm very interested.
It will be a bit for financial reasons but it appears worth the purchase. I'd like to try one out but to date, my range does not have a test gun.
I'm glad there is a specific forum for this round. Don't stop posting.

Do yourself a favor and get a GAP at your earliest convenience! I have GLOCKs chambered in 6 different calibers and the GAP is quickly becoming my favorite. Don't let some of these knuckleheads around this board tell you that the GAP is a dying cartridge, IT ISN'T!
The GAP cartridge has been around for roughly only three years. It will take some time to gain traction in the "mainstream" as a respectable round. More and more agencies have adopted the GAP as their official sidearm.

All three use the same frame, so they all should feel perfect! :dunno:

From my experience, and I went back three times to see if the experience would change, the G38 was slightly fuller, just enough to be noticable to me, and just enough to make a difference.
Someone else may have a different experience but that is my take on the G19,G23, and G38.
It's the same exact frame, only the slide is different, being a bit wider.

your right the technical data on the Glock sit says they are both the same the.the lenghts are 174mm/6.85in the hights are 127mm/5.00in and the widths are 30mm/1.18in then why will a holster from a G19 not work with a G38
Just because of the increased size of the slide.

the data on them say the slide is the same 30mm

I found that to be the case as well, but luckily, it fits perfectly in my G30 holster.

I'm telling you guys. I held the G19, G23, and the G38. The G38 is not the same feel as the other two. The grip is noticably (at least to me) fuller. It is that difference that has me seriously considering the G38.

I'm not doubting you i carry the G38 and when i hold a G19 it feels smaller then my G38 but the data on the Glock sit says there the same :dunno:
Either your mind if playing tricks on you, or there is a "balance" difference because of the slide being different, which might effect your perception of grip (which means your mind if still playing tricks!).

I think maybe the idea of it feeling "fuller" is because, due to the wider slide, it's about 4-5 oz heavier than the G19, G23. As for the slide, it is wider. It's the same width as .45 ACP and 10mm Glocks.
Tony,
You are not listening. The slide width of a G38, althought the same as a G30, is wider than a G19 and will not fit G19 holsters. Glock measures width at the widest part of the frame, not the widest part of the slide. Get a Blade-Tech made for a G38 from www.blade-tech.com
A G38 feels different than a G19 or G23 because of the added weight pf the wider slide.

ok i see what your talking about now http://forums.mathewsinc.com/images/userpix/12495_icon_smile_thumbup_1.gif
I'm glad we got that all straightened out.
FYI, as Danny explained, because of where typical Kydex holster makers index on a Glock (width at muzzle end, and frame at the forward edge of the trigger guard), you can get, in many cases, a holster or slide for a G38/G39... and find that with a 1/4 turn of the forward tension screw have a holster that also carries your G19/G26/G23/G27 just fine. The index point for the frame is the same - better than the 2 for 1 the Clintons keep trying to sell everyone.
:patriot:
(oh yeah, get that G38 now - shoot 1 first to be sure but by all means get one.)
