After reading the thread about the G29 kaboom (or case failure) and others saying how the 29 was like a hand cannon shooting 41 mag power, I was ready for some big bang!
Loaded up the first rounds, put on double ear protection, safety glasses over my close up glasses, braced myself for the HUUUGE recoil, and puff, what a let down! Just mildly more than my 19, and less than my .357 SW 66, and nothing like my uberti .44 mag!
Of course I was only shooting remington UMC which is listed in the middle of the pack at 525 ft. pounds energy, but that still should be comprable to .357.
For some reason, out of the glock, I did not get that bone jarring recoil that sometime you get when shooting .357. More like a snappy push. And the muzzle flip was VERY controllable. My .380 PPK flips up just as much!
So, I will have to get some heavier loads to quell my taste for recoil, I guess.
Will try some of that buffalo bore stuff that is rated at 650 ft. pounds.
Won't try DT unless I change out barrels.
Oh, and the brass looked perfect, no dings, no smileys.

My wife was waiting in the car on our way to town, so promised her I would only take a few shots, to try out the new gun. Only shot 15 rounds, so will test it more completely on Thursday when I go on an official shooting trip.
Only shot at around 21 ft. and kept everything in around a two inch group, slightly right of center, but did not have time to test for accuracy.
Anyways, love the gun, easily can CCW it, and the trigger is fine for out of the box. Nice size to power ratio! Fit my hands great.

More later!

I say both the G20 and G29 handle the 10mm round very well.

I have HEARD that the G33 packs quite a punch. Have you tried that out?

Well pick up some Double Tap ammunition or Buffalo Bore, the Remington UMC is rated at 1150 ft/s (you will get between 1050 to 1130 if you chrono it). Double tap is some great stuff that really shows off the POWER of the 10MM. They also make 200Grain loads that are relatively "SPICEY".

Enjoy the 10 after picking mine up it has become my favorite.

Even with DT loads, the 10mm Glocks are very easy to control. Go shoot some things, the power is there.

I am an unabashed Glock fan. My first reluctant one was a G33 to try out the 357 sig round in the only choice available at the time other than a high priced Sig. It was so easy to shoot and manageable that I ran right out and bought a G23. That led to a G29, G35, G30, G20, G17, G23 (Can't have too many), G34, G31, etc., etc., etc. and the list goes on. Recoil is remarkably light and controllable in all of them to me. My 18 year twin petite daughters regularly shoot whatever I choose to shoot if they happen to go to the range with me, with absolutely no concern whatsoever with the caliber.:wavey:

I ran 50 rounds out of mine the other day (just bought it Tuesday). Although the recoil is notably stronger then the last Glock I carried (G17) it isn't as wicked as I was promised...

I do have a different opinion about recoil in the first place; all ammo produces recoil. Managing recoil can be learned; it should be learned. I learned (somewhat) the hard way; I shot my neighbor's .44 magnum hand loads the first time I ever shot a .44 mag. First round hurt; I tried to muscle it; those pachmyr hard rubber diamond pattern grips dug right in to my palm...almost dropped his S&W. David told me what I did wrong; tried to fight the recoil...he said to control it; a firm but flexible grip; allow the gun to recoil but don't fight it. I have a 2-1/2" ported barrel .41 magnum - in a sub compact frame and a titanium/scandium 2" barreled .45 acp revolver. The .41 is a sub-compact and with my large hands I had to modify my grip so I don't khit my knucles on the trigger guard. But I have learned how to manage the recoil.

My fiance had never shot any guns in here life; on one visit I took her to the range; she shot .38 special +P without a problem; becaused she learned and understood the "recoil" theory I have.

The recoil of the 10mm is highly exaggerated. I loved my shooting experience with the 10. In a Glock it must truly rock!

I would like to jump on the G29 bandwagon(sounds like a great round, for a great

weapon).......but,,,,those dam AMMO PRICES are restricting me from doing it. I simply just cant

afford to take on a whole new caliber right now!!!!:crying::crying::crying:

I have found recoil to be a non-issue with both the 20 and 29
whether I'm shooting Double Tap or my own handloads

if you want a little more recoil... try the Doubletap 135's
You get your man card stamped for shooting a whole box of these.

When i bought my G29 I was expecting huge amounts of recoil, but it turned out to be a sweet shooting pistol. I have fired, UMCs, Federal eagles and Hydra shoks. Double tap is on order. Can wait to try it out.
