I recently bought an expensive burris scope for my new 44DE with just a six inch Barrel. someone in this forum told me to get a scope rail for the gun so that brass didn't hit the scope. Probably a good idea.

Problem, now the gun is so heavy, that it is harder to carry than a light wetherby rifle. The weight has seemed to make it a poor choice to carry in Deerhunting.

Question, the gun wasn't accurate with the factory sights, is very accurate now but to heavy, Would a set of aftermarket sights for the gun help, allowing me to drop the scope?

Target sights are a step above factory and a step below a scope. So, the answer is: They might.

I have one of the older MK1 DE's. Have had it for sometime now and never had the thought of scopeing it.

Why?,it shoots great without the aid of a scope. Plus......I was never too good at finding a target using a pistol(LER) scope. I hovever, do ok with red dot sights.

Shortly after buying the DE,I put Millett ajustable sights on it that came from Magnum Reserch. They are bright orange front and white outline rear. I also added the Hogue grips.

I can shoot very well with the sights, being able to put 5 of my 300gr reloads into a 2" circle from 25yds(from bench and bag)and 5 shots inside a 6" circle at 50yds.

My DE is a close range hog and deer pistol now, but in the past I have used it for moose, bear, deer, yotes, and more.

My DE is chambered in .44mag.

Those sights sound good, this scope is just to heavy. I have a set of grips but will order those sights from magnum research.,

Yeah, the DE is heavy enough to begin with.
