What does it look like? How many? I am thinking in intervals of 10 years. Consider this your gunning census.

i.e. how many at

10 years old:

20 years old:

30 years old:

40 years old:

etc.

For me..

10: Squat

20: 16

30: not there yet :)

What does your time line look like? Is there a trend in gun hording? Hopefully we can get some good replies and pictures are always welcome! :wavey:

Here are mine at 34.

I started handgun collecting at 21 and have sold several along the way. However, I rarely sell anything anymore. In fact, I haven't in the last three years.

I own a few long guns, but I'm much more a handgun guy. I don't know the exact number but its between 70 and 80.

20: Same BB gun

30: 4

40: 12

43: 52:supergrin:

Wow!:wow: I've bought 40 guns in the past three years! Doesn't seem like it until you see the numbers in front of you.

Here are some pics. Five guns are not pictured because, at the time I took these, one was in the car with my wife - two were on order and two I forgot to include:dunno:

1911s are all I buy these days. I pretty much have every other handgun I want. 1911s are amazing in that every one is a little different. I have 6 more on my list. Actually 7 more, but one is on order.

I have been collecting handguns for over 13 years. Unfortunately, I did sell a couple that I regret. That's why I don't sell anymore.

15, but I gave one to my dad for his birthday last year (a CZ-82).

Two of the guns not pictured are Enfields, A No. 4 Mk 1 marked "U.S. Property" and a No. 4 Mk 1 Long Branch. They arrived just last week.

They are rough but I think I can save them:supergrin:

ETA:

C&R FFL = NO MONEY!!! But I think they are well worth it! I've had mine for about 10 months now and I love it!

I highly reccomend the C&R for serious collectors.

Haven't counted recently but it's in the neighborhood of 12,000 rounds - most of it for the "assault" rifles.

At the height of its glory, my accumulection numbered well over 200. A divorce straight from hell about eight years ago, and common sense later on have reduced it considerably. Here are a few from before that time. Nowdays, I have my CAS guns, a couple hunting rifles, and not much else. Here is a portion of them from back then. There really is such a thing as "too many".

Absolutly, there's 2 times when a person can own too many.

1) When married to a nag
2) When getting divorced

All other times, owning 200+ is a-ok ;)

okay ill go again then :)

at 10 i think i had a 1022 and a red ryder, a crossman air pistol, and a daisy pump bb/pellet gun ,

so thats 4 ..

Havent reached 20 .. but i would say in the neighborhood of gun guru' and this year should surpass..

Not exactly sure, as many guns interest me enough to buy them, few interest me enough to keep them.

Most I won't get again.

Right now I still have:
Sears 200 (Winchester 1200), Ruger 10/22, M38, and 2 Beretta 92s with matching Cx4 Storm.

Will likely get a couple Yugo underfolding AK47s, two each of three types of AR15 (14.5" LMT Carbine, 18" Noveske SPR, 20" wood furnitured Saber Defence), another Beretta 92FS, a DPMS AR10 SASS, and a really accurate .308 bolt gun.

Not to mention slings, holsters, optics, lights, and a boatload of mags and ammo that I need to go with them.

Well, let's just say I only bought about 11 long guns and 4 pistols last year.. I've been at it since 91' I also reload, I don't think it's saved me any money, I just have twice as much ammo as I would.. Just to give ya an idea: I am around 7k of 9mm, but 1k of that is factory..

I plan to double it this year! I also promised myself that for every gun I've sold, I am going to replace with 2.. I am not selling anymore!!! I really like this G-21SF I picked up last year, it's damn accurate.. Keep goin guys!! J.

ETA: almost forgot, I have a few BB/pellet guns layin around also...

I tend to be somewhat of a trader due to the fact that I don't make enough money to accumulate all of the stuff I want without giving up something in return. That being said, I am currently sitting on about 8 or so long guns and about around 10 handguns. My ability to aquire new guns has slowed a bit due to the fact that most of the ones I currently own, I also intend to keep. So, I have to save the cash rather than swap something when I want a new toy.

As for the age/number thing....

10: A Springfield 15A single shot .22 that my dad gave me

20: I had added maybe three or four at that point in time

30: Not quite there yet, but getting close.

10: 1 - a Winchester .22 pump given to me by Dad

20: Dunno -- probably had about 5

30: Well, I'm one year away and and 37. About 20 handguns and the rest an even split b/t shotguns and rifles.

01-30-2008, 15:01
By age 25 I had accumulated enough guns to last me the rest of my life if need be. I had heard so many horror stories of wives not letting guys buy guns that I figured I'd buy all the guns I wanted before I got married.

My wife saw all of them and figured that I had enough.

That was about 20 years ago, she's allowed a few additional purchases along the way, mostly for her or for the children. Anything else I've bought has been a result of selling off one or more of the old ones. Careful trading and knowing what my guns are worth have allowed me to raise the number slightly since I got married.

Anyhow my pictures can't compare with Jbar4Ranch's.

10- nothing, but Dad took me shooting 22s and my older brothers let me shoot their BB guns.

20- had a 760 Rem in 30-06, a 10-22, and Mossberg 500.

30- things start to get blury...into Ruger rifles, S&W revolvers, and S&W wonder 9s.

40- even worse..buying, selling, trading and losing money hand over fist. If it shoots, I want it. If it has fancy wood, or black pastic...I want it even more!! If it makes the cover of Guns and Ammo, I'll pay any amount to have the latest toy!:wow:

Turning 50 very soon, and have about 72 of mixed breeds from junkers to top end Weatherbys in the safes, and few more on what has turned into "long term" loans.

If I can keep from taking the dirt nap in the next 10 years, hope to add to the collection.

I can't give you the break down by age either.. just right now I'm at about 35.. I'm starting into the higher end 1911's although I'm in the same universe as Bac is.... I have two RRA's with on on order, and a new Nighthawk Dominator.. with a GRP soon to follow..

BAC, I think you have too many 1911's. Wait, on second thought, no one can have too many 1911's!

Yeah, I love my 1911s. I have almost $35K tied up in them alone. I still have 6 or 7 more on my list. In fact, they are the only handguns left on my list.

Ahhhh yes....

For those of you that are new to Glock Talk and have not seen Glockman1000's collection, just follow this rule:

Do NOT look directly at the photos!!!!

Avoiding actual visual contact will prevent feelings of envy and/or inadequacy!

Consider yourself warned!!!!

oops.....:faint:

too late:supergrin:

I now feel woefully inadequate:wavey:

Bac my friend, your collection of 1911's and Colt revolvers make me green with envy lmao in a good way of course !!

I can't give you the break down by age either.. just right now I'm at about 35.. I'm starting into the higher end 1911's although I'm in the same universe as Bac is.... I have two RRA's with on on order, and a new Nighthawk Dominator.. with a GRP soon to follow..

You have some great taste in 1911s. I have the RRA Limited Match and its one of the best shooting 1911s I own. Nighthawks are awesome as well. I have the Predator II, but would like to get a full size NH. I'm thinking a Dominator or Talon.

At ten I had a BB gun

Now I've got a few guns. I wouldn't call it a collection though. I think of "a collection" as havening some kind of order and ultimate goal I guess. About the only kind of order I have is most of mine are 22's, and most of those are Rugers.

Over the years I've HAD a lot more guns. I've sold them and traded them off for something else, gained interest, lost interest, gained it back. I really wish I still had all the guns I've had over the years.

Those of you who are younger, hold onto them. You always think, "I can get another one," but that's not always true. I'd like to still have the Model 19 S&W Combat Magnun that was my first handgun, or the Winchester Model 70 30-06, that was my first rifle. Even the old Sears/Roebuck double 12 that was the first gun I ever paid for myself when I was about 16. Those can't be replaced ever.

Been as high as 30 gun when I turned 30, and now am at a low of 12 at 36.

My two year vacation from work has taken it's toll on my gun collection, but the time with my wife and kids was well worth it.

Now, i'm going back to work full time and doing holsters in the evenings, so the collection should start building once again.

I stopped telling my friends and girl about my purchases about three guns ago. They just don't get it. They think I'm crazy or something. Hey, everyone has hobbies... This is ours.:wavey:

Sounds like me. I didn't buy at 18 because of time, money or place. Now I don't really have the time, but that hasn't stopped me from getting a collection started. I just have alot of cleaning to do after each range trip.

First gun was a glock 19 from my parent along with a maurice lecroix for my high school graduation.

Same year I bought an AK. Then everything went down hill from there.

Im 21 now and have 23 guns o.O! I am going to add 5 this year. The only problem is that i dont stockpile ammo like I should. I have about 4-5k ammo all together for about 8 different calibers, so thats a little low. I have 13 handguns and the rest are rifles. So, over 4 years I have 23 firearms. I would consider that progress. One day I want to change my username to Glockman2000, lol.

My buys for this year are as follows:
2 more ARs
GSG-5
.308 FAL/AR
ps90 maybe

**When I have time I will add pics, but I really dont feel like taking all my guns out of my crammed safe right now.

However, extrapolation derived from guns currently owned divided by years owning guns puts the 10 year mark at +/- 30! Here's hoping!

I was a late bloomer:

10-20: 2
20-30: 5
30-35: 12
35-37: 33

started out with a .22 and a 12 ga, in my twenties bought a few hunting rifles and shotguns, bought a few handguns in my early thirties and for the last couple years went on a spree, starting with mostly "evil" guns, but have gone back to basics lately with recent purchases being 1911's, revolvers, lever guns. I am also on a caliber consolidation kick, except for the hunting rifles I'm trying to stick to .22, 9MM, .45 ACP, .38/.357, .223/5.56, 7.62X39 and 12ga.

I like what I have, that is for sure. I have worked hard for what I have, and I enjoy it. For some reason, my efforts that got me to own an USGI M1 Rifle, M1 carbine, 1911a1 pistol have been the best purchases I have ever made. All three are a pure joy to shoot and owning a piece of history just adds to the fun of gun ownership

I know the democrates tried that over 10 guns or 1k of ammo (or supplies to make 1k rds) is an arsenal awhile back. Wanted you to buy a yearly permit, and could be inspected at anytime.
