View Full Version : G27 Misfeeds
I brought my G27 to the range today to punch some paper. I haven't fired that gun in about 6 to 8 months and it was cleaned the last time it was used. I used up my batch of Factory Reloads that I bought at a gun show last year. I had no problem with that ammo any other time I fired it, but today at the range I had 6 mis-feeds. I have a Pearce mag extention on my G27 mags and I made sure to 'tap' the mag to ensure that all of the rounds were firmly seated in the mag. I don't believe I was 'limp wristing' as I use a firm weaver stance and make sure I am leaning forward when I fire. I've had an occasional mis-feed before, but never so many in one session. Any ideas on what could cause this?

Using factory ammo Blazer today I too, had a failure to load. I had noticed that one round was longer than the rest of the box. Took notice and loaded it anyway. Hey, Glocks are known to shoot anything! It didn't. I think back on it and I believe the longer round hit the casing that was to be extracted and caused the casing to remain in the port area, ending up part way, back in the chamber.
Practiced my clearing tech. and was on my way. The round fired without incident.
I concur with Danny, check your ammo.

Hmmm, factory reloads...
Pearce+1s cause reliability problems with some guns. check out the gunsmith section
pearce+1 grips are not reliable, if you perform tactical reloads they may fall apart
the also cause misfeeds
I changed to the pearce extensions with out the +1
Not saying you don't have problems, but I have never had a problem with the +1's. Hell, I have never shot my 27 without them. They feel so much better IMO and the extra round can't hurt.

with Blazer ammo in my G27 with factory magazines. To be fair to Blazer, my HKUSP40C loves the stuff.

Sorry to hear that. I had never seen this before now with Blazer ammo. The wife and I shoot this stuff all the time. I'm sure we're in the 10's of thousands rounds of Blazer. I know it's hot and what a report!
We do fairly well with it a the GSSF's too. "It ain't no sissy stuff," as was stated by a RO in the Richmond match.
Did find one other round with a rolled lip on the cartridge. It fired too.
I can't complain with Blazer.

Check your magazine spring tension too. Mags that have sat loaded for any length of time will shorten up on you and can cause a failure to feed properly if they've weakened. I think that this is an often overlooked source of trouble with most auto loading pistols.

I would guess that either you are not locked out all the way or like others said it is possibly the mag springs. Not sure if this would help but you might try to shoot out of the isosceles stance just to see if it has a failure to feed then. I would only try this stance just because I feel you are better locked out in that position but that is just me. If it doesn't then I would think it was your stance and the fact that you might not be locked all the way out. Hope this helps. Take care

I feel your pain.
My 27 puked a few times last week, with Blazer and a Pearce +1 on one of the magazines so equipped. I took off the Pearce +1 and stuck the original Glock baseplate on it, still had two misfeeds. I had to leave then, but I've since taken the Wolff +10% spring out of that magazine and will continue testing.
Possibilities:
* I limp wristed
* The gun doesn't like Blazer that much
* Something weird with that one magazine. The other (also with the Pearce +1 and Wolff +10% spring) had NO failures.
* Some combination of the above
The failure to feed was strange, too: The slide hung open, with the next-up round sticking vertically out of the top of the gun. Its base was still barely in the mag feed lips with the bullet end up in the air, the slide squeezing the side of the case against the barrel hood. It almost looked like it was sprung up too fast out of the magazine and tried to launch itself skyward when the slide was returning forward.
No noted problems with extraction - the old cases were clearing out very well.
