Cabela's in Greenwood, or not?

I just heard on the news we may not even see the Cabela's built. :sigh:

I would like to see it happen, but with the direction the economy is heading they have decided to not build this year, if ever. I'll try and find an article and post it after work.

Yep...looks like until Cabela's corporate numbers get better...the Greenwood store plans have been shelved.

Bummer! I'm looking forward to it...another place for me to waste time!

Huge Outdoor Store in Greenwood Put on Hold

Our partners at Inside Indiana Business have confirmed that plans for a Cabela's store in Greenwood are on hold. Spokesman John Castillo says the Nebraska-based company will only open two new stores this year due to a challenging retail environment.

The company was expected to open seven new stores this year. Cabela's had previously told Greenwood officials that the store would attract about three million visitors annually.

The outdoor outfitter has 26 operating stores, including one in Hammond, Indiana.

This is a real let down... I still miss Galyan's and now this! :dunno:

Bad news. Bass Pro in Clarksville is a good store but Cabellas is so much more.

I was looking forward to the store and was thinking it might be "fun" to work there when I retire.
