I am going to try this again as I received no responces the first time.

Purchased my first Glock a couple of months ago (G17). I have enjoyed shooting it. I have a Beretta 96 for the .40 stuff. So I was looking at a G21 for .45 ACP.

Any opinoins on the "C" models vs. a straight 21? Do the compensated shoot any better or worse?

Thanks.

They shoot neither better nor worse. The G21C has less muzzle flip.

When I get a G21, I will get the C model. If you don't like the ports, you can swap in a standard G21 barrel.

Several years ago "Gun Tests" magazine had a comparison of several of the Glock compensated models. As I recall, the G21 benefitted the least from the compensation, due primarily to the relatively low presure inherent to the .45 ACP round. Again, they didn't find it worthless, just that it provided less compensation effects than other Glocks in other calibers-I'll try to find the article.

I read the same article from Gun-tests and they chose G21c over G21 and the reasons they cited are:

"Glock GL21C .45 ACP. Our Pick. The porting reduces recoil at the cost of more noise and introduces some concern about avoiding the gas ports. But the result is you don’t have to be a linebacker to deliver 14 rounds of legendary stopping power. Also, we felt the ports contributed to accuracy when shooting defense rounds. "

21C is clearly the winner.
