My daughter has done excellent with her grades all of the school year so far. She's wanted to play guitar so I think I'm going to get a Les Paul special (the cheapy) and get her some lessons. I may take lessons as well (I'm 15 years self taught), i feel I could pick up a thing or two. Anyone know a good teacher around the Flint area with a good price? I have no clue what guitar lessons should even cost. Any advice is appreciated.

As a note....after 15 years of playing I'm thinking about treating myself to this gem.

The Epis are a good value. Most of them benefit greatly from a little work on the frets. They are usually very crudely filed.
If you get it, take it to agood luthier and have him dress the frets and do a proper setup. It will be well worth the fee.

I'm not from the Flint area so I can't help with a lesson recommendation.

Not to derail my own thread, but how much does fret dressing generally cost?

Depends on how proud the luthier is of his work, but you could expect to pay $75-$100 for a good job. The set-up will run an additional $40-$50.
It will be money well spent.
