Yes I know it's probably been discussed 100000 times but a search reaveals no details. I know the SF is a short frame (I meant) but what exactly does that mean? I can't find it written anywhere. Gettting ready to buy a G21 and trying to decide on a SF or not?

Thanks

Actually, you're not even correct about that, it is "Short Frame".

The G21SF has the *option* of coming with an ambi mag release or regular release, pic rail or glock rail, and the "smaller grip".

It was a typo or rather a "brain-o"

No, No, No! It's not a slim frame, it's a "Short Frame." Glock reduced the size of the cavity behind the magazine well. The ambi model uses a different trigger housing, mag release spring and mag release.

Ah, I see said the blind man. Thank you.

I've read that the trigger is horrible compared to the G21. Any truth to that?

Any reason to get one or the other? I have big hands so grip size is usually not a problem. Always adding a Hogue Handall to my firearms to make it larger. Thanks.

I picked up a brochure from Glock at the shot show on the G21SF and G30SF. The distance to the trigger from the backstrap for the G21SF is 2 mm shorter and for the G30SF it is 3 mm shorter. The brochure has photos showing the differences. It doesn't look like much but it may be significant for some people.

if you have man hands then the G21 will be more comfy. The G21sf was made for little girls.

I hear it was made for female LEOs with small hands. :whistling:

Glockworld is wrong. Glock, Inc of Smyrna, GA calls the SF models short frame, The G36 is a slimline and features a slim frame. There is nothing slim about the double stack G21SF and G30SF.

Joe, it's just a typical GlockTalk reaction. For years folks have been complaining about the brick-like grip of a G21. Now that Glock has done something about it, the same folks are complaining about what Glock has done. Folks here just like to complain about anything that does not match the profile of their particular special interest.:whistling:

no disrespect intended, but has anyone called Glock on that? I couldn't find it on their website, and a good friend of mine just bought a G21SF and said it stood for "slim frame". :dunno:

SHORT FRAME! The grip length is slightly shortened front-to-back while being exactly the same width as the old G21.

Let me go on record and say that I have no problem with the grip on my G21 or my G30.

I ran across a Glock rep at a dealer with his demo case. He had every model in the case. I asked to handle both a G21 and the G21SF with standard mag release & Glock rail (which is what I would want). After about 30 minutes of conversation and constant handling of both weapons I concluded that for me I am set with my G21. I could not find any benefit in the grip of the G21SF.

...and I could. Not all hands (or folks) are alike.

I agree. I was only detailing my personal experience. I fully believe anyone thinking about buying a 21 try both and go with the one that feels the best.

In all honesty I was excited about the introduction of theG21SF and I thought I would find it an improvement over my G21. After handling both I walked away with no further desire to obtain a G21SF.

The numbers and even the pictures won't tell you much. You need to handle and preferably shoot both old and new versions to see if the SF makes a difference to you. For some (like me), the small changes in the G21SF grip add up to a more comfortable grip. For others (like Blaster), the SF changes don't mean much because they are content with the old G21. For still others, the G21SF doesn't confer any benefit because it is STILL too fat!

The G21SF has a slightly shorter trigger reach at the top of the grip and (most significantly to me) a reduction in the "camel hump" at the bottom of the backstrap. The latter reduction in particular makes a G21SF much more comfortable in my hands.

Based on the G21SF and the pictures of the G30SF, the latter will have a similarly-reduced trigger reach (which isn't obvious in the pictures) and DOES have a reduction in the hump at the bottom rear of the backstrap.

Glock G21SF (Short Frame) The reason for the Short Frame was to improve trigger reach, this is the distance from the rear of a handgun receiver or blackstrap to the face of the trigger. By removing just a miniscule amount at the rear of the G21 receiver, Glock engineering had come up with a whole new positive feel.

I wish they would make a glock 26 with a short frame so better fit my small hands.
