I am deciding on my first sbr rifle and have narrowed the choice to 2. ether the rra 9mm or the rra .223. I will add a can as money permits what is the crowds .02 on these rifles etc. I belive both barrels are in the 10.5" range.

If you build it yourself, you can list both 9mm and .223 on the Form 1. Then you can swap out uppers.

If you sbr the 223 lower you can convert it to 9mm later. If you buy a 9mm rra lower you cannot convert to 223 due to the magwell.

This would be only if he buys the newer, dedicated 9mm only lower that has the magwell altered. Otherwise, the current RRA 9mm lowers/magwells are identical to the .223 lower/magwell, but include a removable magwell block....

Got all the crap I ordered from ATF forms finger print cards etc. Going with my predator lower/cmmg upper shortened to about 12" i think.
I would suggest going through a Class III dealer and having it SBR'd direct from RRA. That way it is easy and no issues.
Wait time for just a lower from RRA is almost 12 months. Complete SBR'd firearm is a standard 14 weeks.

Under caliber you can list "multiple" and submitting a Form 1 to be used with a trust or corp is usually a rather quick turnaround (without the need for fingerprinting or CLEO signoff).

If you use the word "Mutiple" it will get kicked back to you.

That's right. ATF no longer accepts "multiple" calibers or lengths. Just pick one caliber/length that you will use most of the time. You can then use any other caliber/length uppers you want as long as you can return the weapon to the configuration listed on your form 1.

What?? When did this happen? Well, it doesn't matter. Thanks for the update. And I'm about to submit one here in a couple weeks.
My most recent SBR was a 10" barrel in 5.56. In the additional info section, I added soemthing to the effect of:
To also occasionally be used w/a 5", 7.5",10", 10.5", 11.5" and 14.5" uppers in 5.56 and 9mm.
It is not required, but makes me feel a little better having that on the "approved" form.
