Hi folks,

I got my G30 a year ago and still love it.

Now I´m in a job where I need (and want) to carry it at a daily basis.

My actual Bianchi Cydex Hoster is not "concealed" enough.

Have you any recommendations for me.

BTW I´m not slim enough to carry IWB.

Thanks

Actually, non-slim works fine for IWB (trust me on this)...you just need a one-size-bigger pair of pants.

Slim? I'm fluffy. 250# and 5'2". I carry my G30 every day in a Sidearmor IWB holster supported by a Ted Blocker belt. Been doing it since May 1997, although I started out with a Blade-Tech IWB holster, FBI cant w/straps.

I'll never be anybody's definition of slim and I have carried my G30 and G19 in Sidearmor IWB holsters for years with relative comfort and good concealability. If you don't like a gun and holster punching into your love handles you might try a small of the back IWB.
Of course you can always stick your gun in your belt back there but if you reach back and put your finger on the trigger as you pull your gun from the belt you could wind up a little more slender than you had planned and in a hurry. Be cool.

I'm 5'9, 180-190lbs and could be a bit thinner, and I carry mine in a Blade-Tech IWB with a Wild Bill's Concealment belt every day. A Comp-Tac shirt tucker is high on my list of to-get stuff. Maybe I'll convince myself to get a Sidearmor one of these days.

I have very good luck with the Don Hume holsters. Both IWB and belt slide styles.

GlocksRock from Sgt Steve...
I agree 100%. I have Hume's for my Ruger 357, Kel Tec, Beretta,Bernardelli. The only reason I don't have one for my G30 is that the trade brought me the G30 with an Alessi and a Rosen holster. Both my belts (brown and black) are Hume belts. Best value for the money.:)

If you're looking for a kydex holster, try a sidearmour or www.tac-pro.com. In leather, the Galco Fletch or FED Paddle.

Sidearmor IWB with 15-degree can and a Wal-Mart Workman's belt ($9.95). This is worn daily (unless I have to go someplace that doesn't allow it like MD).

If you haven't tried a Fobus holster, you owe it to yourself to do so. They are under $20.00, guaranteed for life, lightweight, and have acceptable retention qualities.

Put me in for the Don Hume holsters as well. They are as affordable as the Fobus but much higher quality. ST

Not that I'm trying to get rid of it, but I've got a new Alessi close quarters that's only had my G30 in it once. Not even broken in. Also have a matching mag carrier. If you're interested, drop me a line.

My old Alessi is doing fine and could last a few more years.

AND YET ANOTHER VOTE FOR DON HUME, THEY ARE ALL THAT AND AT A GOOD PRICE TOO, THERE IS ALSO DESANTIS, SIMILAR TO D.H. I'D BE HAPPY WITH EITHER ONE OF THESE TWO BRANDS.

I originally bought a Comp-Tac Shirt-Tucker for my G30, which was great. But I realized the gun is a BRICK and I then ordered a Ghurka and now my life is complete.

With the Ghurka, my G30 is solid and stationary. I am 5'7" and about 160# and I bought all my pants one inch larger than normal. I combine the holster with a Wilderness Belt (1-1/2 and 1-3/4"), just make sure you tell Gregg you use a 1-3/4" belt when you order and he will make sure it works.

I also use Comp-Tac for my Surefire D2 Defender Light and I carry an extra mag holster too.

I also wear his FBI slide holsters for when I play my IDPA games (with G19), and for then I also have a double mag carrier.

Hope this helps ... but just remember you will not like whatever you buy too much until you invest in some larger pants.

I also recommend Comp-tac holsters. Been wearing my G30 in an Undercover model holster for about a year. I paid $39 bucks for it and Gregg's quality and service is second to none. I carry the Undercover with a Wilderness Instructors Belt and it is an unbeatable combination. If you don't mind spending a lot for a Kydex holster, Sidearmor is another way to go. But IMHO Sidearmor's quality is no better than Comp-Tac's and for what Sidearmor charges for 1 holster, you can get both the Undercover and a Wilderness Belt.

ScottB, The problem with shopping online is that I can never remember where I've seen stuff. I'll look around. You might check with Cheaperthandirt.com or other big catalogs. Good luck.

Blade-Tech makes SOB/MOB smallofback middleofback holsters.

I also recommend the Fobus. Was wearing mine at the range this weekend for Dynamic Tactics, and when we went into town I just chucked a button down shortsleeve shirt over it and it disappeared. I used the Fobus paddle for my G30 and the twinmag carrier.

Comp-Tac is good too. Two of the guys at the class had them, I think a Ghurka and something else.

Brian Hoffner offers an excellent line of Holster and he has Small of Back Holster called the Backpacker

http://www.hoffners.com/hoffn_04.jpg

I think the above link is the page that will show you a decent picture of it.

Brian is one hell of a guy. I just finished up a 3-Day Tactical Shotgun Class with him down in Victoria, TX and last month I attended his Tactical Pistol One course.

He is easily ranked in the Top 5 Shotgunners in the country (but then again we all know how rankings go - heresay and opinion). On top of all that he is in charge (or a big shot of some kind) of training for the Houston Police Department and works at the Police Academy there in Houston.

I don't really use his holsters, except for a leather Shotgun Shell Belt that snaps over your regular belt.

His main page is: http://www.hoffners.com/

It isn't the most sophisticated Web Page, but I can definitely vouch for the guy's credibility - his leather work is top-notch.

Blade-Tech does make the inside-waistband small of back holster called the MOB last time I checked.

If you are looking for a leather IWB small of the back, Galco makes one. Thier quality is good, but don't order directly from them, they are sky high! There are a few web retailers that will give you a good deal.
