This last weekend I took my new S&W 340PD to the range for the first time. I had heard about these little monsters, but I have never feared recoil. I love big bore revolvers that go BANG! I hate the 340PD. It hurts to shoot it. I found rapid follow up shots all but impossible. I do not care how easy it is to carry, it is not for me. I like a steel frame gun. I immediately went back to my old battered S&W model 36.

So in the state of mind described above I happened to visit my local gun shop yesterday and made a find. It is a Colt Lawman Mk III .357 mag. made in 1971. There is slight holster wear on the barrel, but overall it is quite nice and very tight. Now THAT is a snubby!

I really like the grip shape/angle on the Colts, but for one reason or another, have never owned one.

Nice snubbie!

Nice find.
Enjoy.

p.s. might need a Tyler T grip to fill out grip if you are like me?

Nice snubbie!

I agree on the grip angle and shape. It just fits my hand perfectly. The trigger. although not as good as the older Smith's that I own, is still better then most new revolvers.

I went into my local gunshop a few months ago and in the case was a Detective Special that dated to 1970. It looked like it hadn't been shot at all. Then just before the holidays in the same case I saw a Colt Lawman MK III. The Lawman had some bluing wear around the 2.5 inch barrel and on the front of the cylinder. It still was tight as a drum which told me it was carried a lot more than shot.

Everytime I walked into the shop I would ask to see these two pieces. They would handle like a fine Swiss watch. Both of these revolvers dated from the early 70's and you could see the quality in them. The blue was rich and the actions and timing was near perfect.

I went in a couple of weeks ago and the owner who takes good care of me, as I do of him, gave me a great deal on the pair. I picked them both up for what a new Glock would cost me. Enjoy that great revolver. They don't make 'em like that anymore.

Very nice. A little big/heavy for my pockets, but definitely easier to control than my wrist breaker 340PD.

That's a very nice gun. I bet it makes a fine CCW piece.
