Is there a digital out there today, other than an SLR that will give me control over the shutter/speed combo? Thanks

Lots of them, as long as you don't mind doing it through menus. What price point and what other features were you looking for? Just going by manual control would give too many matches to list.

Not quite sure yet. I'm looking towards a Sony Cyber-Shot H3 which seems to have what I want.

Hm. I am not sure what you're asking then. You don't know what features and price point you are interested in, but you have picked the camera?

Well, Sony H3 does have manual controls, so it will meet your requirements.

Yea, there are tons of them, and I'm using a Cyber-Shot now, but I'd like more control over what I can do. Thanks.

If you want more control, make sure you get a body that will shoot RAW.

Canon G9 RAW and manual

Canon A570IS manual...and cheap, with stabilization, but no RAW.

RAW not necessary for a P&S camera anyway IMHO.

Canon is the way for the point and shoots. I do have a Nikon D80 and old Nikon film gear.
