I have the Crimson Trace 205 and 405 for S&W. I'm planning on putting the 405 on my 442 when I get it.

Just wondering who else has lasergrips on their snubbies and do they improve your accuracy with these little animals. Which model do you prefer? I like the idea of the laser for intimidation that may end a situation even before shots are fired.

I am not a lawyer, but -

In Ohio, the way I understand it, you're not even supposed to draw a gun until you're in fear of death or of serious bodily harm to yourself or, if you are so inclined, another. Seems to me, "intimidation" may get you a little closer to "brandishing" than you really want.

Given that understanding and, further, that I hope the situation never arises - if it does, the object of my attentions is going to have a fairly short window of opportunity to realize a gun is involved and stop being a threat before a round is on the way. Such a short window that they're not likely to know or be able to act on the knowledge that there's a laser involved too.

You are correct. Brandishing can get you into some serious doo-doo. I guess what I meant by "intimidation" is when there is a lethal threat the laser may stop it. Probably would work better in a situation where the BG has a knife or is threatening harm to another and I can get the drop on him. If the BG has a gun pointed at me then the laser will be followed up by a bang.

Glad to hear you like your CT. Did it improve your accuracy?

Did it improve your accuracy?Well, if you mean over what I can do with time to bring the gun to eye level and light enough to see the sights, not significantly unless I squeeze very slowly and concentrate on holding the dot on target. And I don't do that unless I'm zeroing the laser.

If you mean fairly close range, fairly fast point shooting from waist level or so, then yes - quite a lot.

Yup, exactly what I was meaning. I figure the snub would be used in a 6 foot or less distance situation and a fast draw and fire would be necessary. Laser pointed at COM and a quick 2-3 rds there before the BG knew what was happening. Any longer distances would be an aim with the front sight and laser combined or try to use the laser to end the situation w/o any shots fired but be there if needed to fire.

Only one of my eleven snubbies has CT laser grips.
They have a place, but I don't find them essential.

I love my Crimson grips on my 638. I had them on my 442, first, then had them put on my 638 when I started carry it. They are very accurate. I don't know the number, though, of the grips, but I do like them and have confidence using them. I have tried targets with them, and they are accurate. They are better than night sights.

I've got CT305s on my 640-1. Love them! I've never had to draw on a BG, but I imagine that little red dot superimposed on your chest might be quite a deterrent.

have them on a sw mod. 60 and an A/O bigdot site great setup and have had it out on a man. the red dot ended the problem right there. with no shot fired.

I was thinking of the 105 as well; however, last weekend at a gun show I held a snubbie with the 105 and the grip seemed rather thin. I am considering the 105 on my s&w 442. Can you tell me if these grips reduce the width from the original grips you had?

Oh gosh it's been a while since I had the originals on there and I don't have them readily avaliable to compare. However I'd say the 105's are probably very similiar in size to the original grips, whereas the 305's and 405's are oversized.

For carry issues I prefer the smaller grips, but I'll admit they're not real pleasurable to shoot

I've decided on my 205's that I've had for years. They fill the palm of my hand better then the thinner 405's and feel similar to the original rubber boot grip that came on the gun. Not sure why CT discontinued these because I think they feel good on my 442.

I would if they made them for my Taurus 617. I plan on getting a Smith & Wesson 649 and putting LG405's on it as a pocket carry piece as soon as I can afford to.
