Anyone know what the proper amount of torque is to use on the machine bolts used to hole a 10/22 barrel in the receiver? This can make a difference in accuracy potential of the gun.

When I got my new Clerke .920 bbl, I tightened it as tight as I could get it, and it is very accurate. I would not worry, unless you don't get it tight enough.

I tightened the bolts as tight as I could get them and cracked the block. Had to call Ruger and have them send me a new one. Make sure you tighten each bolt evenly with the other until you get them tight. Alternate screwing them in so the block is not cocked too much to one side before tightening the other side. Steel blocks are available to prevent cracking but you can still over tighten the steel bolts and do damage to the Aluminum receiver threads or to the receiver itself. Use common sense when tightening the bolts. Teflon thread tape also helps hold the bolts securly in place. Good Luck - J.Solo
