View Full Version : Whats differences between 0.40 S&W and .40 SUPER ?
Have you ever heard anything about .40 SUPER caliber ?
Quite a few guys here shoot .40 Super. The following link has some more technical info on the cartridge:

I noticed that they don't make any reference to allowing a .40 glock to be converted to shoot this round. Why is that???

Because the round is a necked down .45. Thus you could convert a .45 Glock to shoot it, but not convert a .40 Glock.
First a .40 super 135 grainer moves out at 1,800 fps and has 971 fpe, or 165 grainer at 1,500 fps for 824 fpe, or 200 grainer at 1,300 fps for 750 fpe. Most .40's and .45's out of the muzzle will not do what the .40 super can at 100 yards. Check out Tritons site - they are great people..... http://www.triton-ammo.com
Second, the .40 super is configured for a .45 frame with a .40 super barrel added to it along with heavy springs. To help control the round. Dies can be bought but, ya reallllllyy don't need it with Triton's loads.
Third, the .40 s&w 135 grainer does 1,300+ fps, the 155 grainer does 1200 fps, the 165 grainer does 1150 fps and the 180 grainer does 980+.
Ask WalterGA and Turbonatar and Marko.......These are the folks with the .40 super information on live fire.....;f ;f ;f

The 40 Super is a necked down 45 Win Mag. I have shot a Les Baer that had the conversion kit installed...STOUT recoil.
