In the past, when I had just begun to write on a regular basis, even the most minor of distractions would bother me to the point were my river of creativity dried up. But, after nearly 5 years of steady writing, I've gotten used to noise and have learned to cope better. Depending upon my creative mood and what specific section of my book I'm working on, music will sometimes help. A major factor in this is the type of music. Tool songs like Vicarious have helped a lot in aiding my creative process and help me generate new ideas on a constant basis. What about you guys?

I need something low key in the back ground. I prefer classical or j*** as I otherwise get distracted and start listening to the music. Some times depending on what geograhpic scene I'm writing I try to capture the music of that area. Sometimes works sometimes is distracting.

Same thing with me. My writing has moods. Some day I'll be able to churn out a good 10 pages with countless distractions that I mentally dismiss and don't even realize exist. Other days I'll be really stressed and the slightest noise will send me over the edge.
