Which of these 125 gr .357 Sig loads (if any) do you carry in a G32 or G33 and why did you select the same?

For example, was price the main factor in your selection (i.e. Black hills new manufactured ammo seems to be cheapest);

Or was one of these more reliable than the other in your glock?

Or was velocity (I think the Georgia Arms sheer power plus load is advertised as the fastest load at 1400 fps, if I am not mistaken), the deciding factor?

Thanks for your anticipated input.

I prefer the 125gr Gold Dots for carry.

Gold Dots!

I look at preformace, not price when I choose SD ammo. I would rather pay $50 for 10 rounds of ammo that is 100% reliable and reasonably accurate than $1 for 50 rounds of ammo that is going to FTF or not hit what I want it to.

Gold Dots do what I want them to.

I've never seen any Black Hills in this caliber, so I'll pass there.

Georgia Arms and Speer both use the same Gold Dot bullets.
They both use Speer cases (the ones I have, anyway).
They have nearly identical velocities - and uniformity - from my G32.
Accuracy with both was good (maybe very slight edge to GA).
Visually, thay both appear to be of high quality.
In my limited testing, I have not had any kind of failure with either.

But I have not yet done a setback test for the GA ammo.
So until I do, I'll stay with Speer, which passed my test.
But if GA passes, that's what I'll order next.
With everything else about the same, I'll go for price.
Get to practice more with carry ammo that way.
And bags are fine; I don't need nice boxes.

Thanks to all those who replied.

By the way I shot 100 rounds of the Georgia Arms 125 Gr. GoldDt JHP and 140 rounds of Speer 125 Gr. Golddt JHP tonight at the range. Both fed well, were accurate, and subjectively seemed similiar in all other respects in my G32.

I do not have a chronograph so am unable to provide such info.

I think it is a toss up, but would feel comfortable (after some more test firing) with either round.

I've gone thru about 1000rds of the Ga arms golddot reloads, not a hitch. I carry them and practice with them.

Speer Gold Dot or Federal. I've had no FTF with either of these cartridges. Also Federal has a very low flash signature. Something important if you are shooting in low light.

Thanks for the latest replies. I've been trying some 1999 vintage Corbon 125 gr (found on sale); Gold dots 125 gr speer factory offering, and Georgia Arms sheer Power Plus 125 grains.

The 1999 Corbon's have the largest muzzle signature-- but all are enjoyable to shoot. I will proably carry the speer factory offering more often than not.

By the way, my boxes of factory speer Gold Dot 125 grain have recently been sold to me with round green stickers on the box flaps. Does anyone know the significance of this particular sticker?

Thanks,

FA

Same green stickers, along with clear tape with "reclassified" printed on some of the boxes, but not all.

Packenlegal,

Thanks for the info, but are you saying that some of your boxes have just the round green sticker but do not have the additional reclassified label; while other boxes have both the the green sticker and reclassified label?

The reason I ask is that as I mentioned, my boxes have only the green label and are without the addition of a "reclassified" label, and I'm trying to figure out whether the green label on my boxes somehow indicate reclassified ammo or not.

I had to wait until I got back home to double check the boxes. Actually, the boxes that were marked "Reclassified" did not have the green sticker on them, and boxes with green sticker did not have any mention of being reclassified. Sorry for the confusion.

Recently purchased Blazer .357SIG ammo from Natchez; all the boxes had the little green paper dot on the end panel. I phoned Natchez to see what they had to say about the "green dot". The rep I spoke to had no idea what or if the dots indicated anything special about the ammo. I am still trying to learn if they are significant to the ammo. Anyone else know what the "green dots" mean?

Packenlegal,

Thank you for the clarification.

CRS1201,

I too called Natchez awhile ago, and got a similar response. The only way we will find out about the mysterious green dots, is through calling speer-- the entity most likely responsible for placing them on the boxes. Unfortunately, I am engaged in a heavy work committment at this time and can not call them during normal business hours. If you do call speer, please let us know what you learn.

Talked to a Speer rep today about the "green dots" on the end flaps of my Blazer .357 SIG ammo. He told me that there were manufacturing runs that were retested for proper shoulder specs after the ammo was in their warehouse. All the ammo that tested within spec was labeled with a "green paper dot" and was considered "good to GO", in his terminology.
So,if you have "green paper dots" on the end flaps of your SIG ammo boxes they DO meet CCI's mfg specs and are NOT an indication of less than quality ammo.
I do not know what happened to the ammo that may have tested out of spec in the warehouse check. Hopefully, it was rejected by CCI and was pulled from their shelves.

This is a poll I did for SigForum.com a while back... SIGPOLL (http://epicfoto.com/sigpoll.htm) (sorry for the popups) But the split was pretty much between the Speer GD and Federal....

FWIW I use Fedral Premium .357 SIG in mine but I ALTERNATE FMJ AND JHP in my mag... First shot expansion, next shot maxinmum penetration if so needed....

Ciao!

Sigpacker,

I have not tried the federal load in my g32 but have been satisfied with the factory gold dot offering. By the way what do you think of the Sig 239 in .357 Sig? I handled one in the gunshop and it looked sweet!

Have not shot a better gun yet... I just put in a Sprinco recoil reducer and it now feels like I am shooting a 9mm. Double/triple/quad taps are a breeze...
