Howdy gang,
I'm looking at getting a case of Sellier & Bellot .45acp but haven't heard how well it performs. I'm a big fan of Blazer but getting it from Natchez adds $33 in shipping costs, negating the savings over brass ammo. Cheaper Than Dirt has S&B for $177/case. Wolf ammo is out of the question; I had bad experiences with it. Thanx--

I shoot cases of S&B in my .45 and have had no problems. Another benefit is that S&B has a pretty low light signature if you are doing any low light or night shooting. As far as Natchez, the shipping costs are frustrating but the overall price is still pretty good.

I shoot S&B from Natchez in both 9mm and 45ACP. I've shot 3 cases of 45 and 8 cases of 9mm. Absolutely no problems.

Ammobank has provided the best prices (incl. shipping charges) of any place I've dealt with online. www.ammobank.com. Haven't bought any from them in a while, though, and I don't think they have S&B in .45.

I've had about 6 FTF out of 550 using S&B's with my G30 since I purchased it back in March 02. I also tried 150 rounds of Wolf with no problems at all. While in a trining class the instrcutor(Glock Armorer) said that the pistol was new and still needs breaking in. I am going to try about 500 more before I switch to something else.
You might want to see what is available from www.ammoman.com

Thanx Danny, and everyone else. I emailed Eric at ammoman.com to see if he sells Blazer but I never heard back. He does sell S&B though.

I shoot .45 S&B extensively without a problem, and I've also shot their 9mm, .40, .357, .38, .303, 7.62X39mm and 5.56mm in large amounts, and never had a problem except with the .303 (that wasn't the ammo, a mag spring was weak in the rifle and needed replacement, which took a bit to figure out).

I just received 1000 rounds today of 230 grain 45 acp. Ordered it Sunday from Natchez. Worked out to 9.00 dollars a box to my door. I'm happy with the price. Haven't shot any yet. Will let you know.

I had my first ever Squib Load last week right in the middle of an evening IDPA session. Scared the crap out of me because -- like an idiot - I just racked another round and kept going (without thinking if I had a clear barrel or not).
When I realized what I had done a sinking feeling came over me. I first check for all my fingers and field stripped the gun just in case. The barrel was fine because the lead had lobbed out.
I was double plugged on my hearing protection and could NOT hear the shouts of STOP STOP. Needless to say I bought a pair of Peltor 6's this weekend and shot comfortably last night.
I take full responsibility for my error and do not blame S & B ammo. I am trained to not react that way. Sad thing, I had just bought a 1000 rounds from Natchez for 4.99 a box of 50 and this happened on the first magazine.
I am nervous, but I think I am going to treat it like my favorite mexican restuarant -- ever so often I get diarhea from eating there ... but the food is soooo damn good I hate to give up on them for ocassional dirty hands on the cook ... ugh!

I too have had squib loads from S&B ammo. But it was years ago and in 9mm.
I have not had any problems with the .45 ACP ammo though. In fact, I find the .45 S&B ammo to be very consistent. SO consistent that if I shoot at the same target while standing in the same location, the brass collects in one area.

My S & B squib was also in 9mm. But tonight I am taking a box of 45 to the Range.
I was told John Farnham (sp) has issued a memo that S & B is not allowed in his training Courses.

I can reload .45acp for about $5 per box or less using premium components. I haven't seen anything but Wolf in the $9/box range. Paying this much for ammo could crimp my style!
I shoot lead 230LRN through a Federal barrel now in my 21 and they are in the $4 range per box to reload.
I'm in the process of trying a new nylon coated bullet that is priced like lead but shoots up to 2000 fps with no lead problems - the nylon seals it. I'll post a follow up in a few weeks.

Well, I know it's not much but I got to shoot about 30 rounds today of the s & b 45 ammo. Very happy so far. I being a newbie can't really tell it from blazer. Does't seem to be as hot as blazer. Blazer at wally world is 8.97 plus tax for 50. S&B is 9.00 delivered to my door. Not bad...

1000 rounds of S&B from Cheaperthandirt.com in 9mm down range in the last month ZERO FTF or any other problems.
With the addition of a G21, 22 & 36 to the lot this week I will be getting some more in 40 & 45 I think.

BTW, I paid $182 and some change for 1000 rounds of .45 A&B from www.outdoor-source.com. But you have to call for the special price listed on the site ($166/1000 before shipping). I got the ammo in less than a week.
I fired 1500 rounds of 9mm and .45acp ammo this week. Absolutely no problems whatsoever.

I know John Farnam doesn't like S&B ammo, but personally I've shot cases of it in .45ACP with nary a bobble.

I've gone through thousands of rounds of S&B ammo in the .38 Special, the 9 mm Parabellum (both the green box / copper alloy jacket and the red box / steel jacket), 357 Sig, and .45 ACP calibers, and have had excellent results with them.
I did have 2 misfires in the 357 Sig ammo, though.
The brass is excellent, although the primer pockets are a bit tight.

I just left Top Gun Range here in Houston and the guy behind the counter asked me what I was shooting. I told him S & B and he told me I couldn't use it anymore.
He said it was too dirty, plus they don't allow foreign ammo. He said the Range is on a schedule to go to Cleaner Ammo by the end of the year.
He said they wanted us to use Win Clean (or similar alternatives).

http://www.outdoor-source.com/ $166. Cheapest I've found. Haven't had a problem with 2 cases of the stuff through a Glock or a Wilson CQB

Well I just got down with 150 rds of Winchester White Box(purchased on the way) and 150 rds of S&B at the range.
The Winchester was MAKING A HUGE MESS OUT OF MY ARMS! Powder flash and soot all over my forearms:( Not to mention it was all over the target out of my G21 & G36.
When I ran out I went to the range counter and bought the S&B (at the range mark up price). I also went and washed up in the rest room. ;C
Back to the firing line and then shot the S&B. BETTER GROUPS AND NO MORE SOOT;d ;d ;d
This was the 1st timeout with my Glocks and I was getting really po'd at myself until I switched ammo. I personally will never buy the Winchester after today. It really steamed my clams to have black speckled sooty arms and targets that looked like buckshot. S&B, all in the 10 ;v
I don't work for S&B, and I didn't think ammo would make such a difference. The 1st time I bought S&B was for my Ruger P89 and I was skeptical. But after 1000 rounds of 9mm (650 in one day at tactical training) without a misfire and realitively clean for the price compared to UMC, PMC and "White Box" I am sold on it. Plus the wife is 1/2 Czech ;w
The range I shoot at sells S&B and Winchester, they give you S&B with their rental guns...of which they have just about all the GLOCKS. And plenty of Glock gear, clothes, hats, stickers, etc ;3
I shoot S&B in 9mm, .40 S&W, .45 ACP, and .223 Rem.
I've never had a problem with any of it. It's my standard "plinking" ammo.
As a side note. I have 2 or 3 friends that reload their own ammo that say S&B brass is some of the "sweetest" for reloading.
Good ammo. Good price. Go ahead and order it. It's fine ammo.
