View Full Version : New G19 owner and Saf T Blok Ghost Block
Hello everyone I bought my G19 about a month ago and I have put about 600 rds through it at the range already. I am a new gun owner and I am truly loving my Glock! In fact my wife who loves Ruger revolvers is now considering a Glock, (we will look at the 36 or 39 for her).
I have been through a Handgun Saftey class for my Concealed class, and I know that the best saftey is training, respect and keeping your finger off the trigger.
What do you think of these things though that are on Ebay?

I know this one wont work because it is pre-1998
And this is the first I have seen of these

Thanks very much for making me addicted to this forum!!!!
NO, and no.
You said you learned the importance of finger off trigger so the block is not needed.
The lock is just something that could slow you down if you ever needed to use the gun.
Training and more practice. Use the money on ammo before you buy odd little gizmos.

My G-19 and G-27 have a clip draw that I pack with a safty-blok. It's very quick, takes less than a half sec. to pop it out. Also, I use it in my bedside G-22 or G-35. Last year when I was living in an Apt. my nieghbors started figtin' and bangin up against my wall, I remember jumpin' up in bed and grabbing my chambered G-22. I was still half asleep trying to figure out what all the commotion was and I don't recall if my finger was on the trigger or not. So I use it then too. That incident could have turned out very bad being half asleep and such. Anyway, that's my experience, NOT OPINION. Try it, we are very adaptable creatures (well....most of us), I'm sure you can adapt to it well if you look for what YOU like in it (as with anything else) and not create any fears base on other's opinions and practice with it. I found it's about as quick as a 1911 safety, if not quicker, depending of how much one practices. Again, as with anything else, adaptation is key.
If you want a safety for a Glock I'd highly recommend the Cominolli safety. It gives you a foolproof 1911 (and most other auto's) style safety while still retaining all the other standard Glock safety features. If you're gun smithing inclined, they're quite easy to install for most people with any gun smith experience beyond basic maintenance.

thanks for your thoughts on these items and the other options

Welcome!!!
As a new gun owner and new to the forum you will quickly discover that there are a lot of differing opinions. Here is mine.
If you want a gun with more or different safety's than Glocks come with from the factory then there are plenty of options. The new polymer framed Ruger is getting a lot of positive press and has a thumb safety.

Good advice....
another option is to look at the Springfield Armory XD-9, 40 or 45....Very Glock like clone, with the addition of a grip safety e.g. 1911 style....And very reasonalby priced, if you shop around, in my opinion.
