Specifically for a 27...
Does anyone have any issues with jamming or FTF when adding the Pearce grips that increase magazine capacity by 1? (mainly due to the spring length change inside the mag)
Deciding between the regular grip or +1.
Thanks in advance!
Some folks here have reported functioning problems with them, but I've never had any. The magazine spring used in the G26/27 mags is the same one used in the G19/23 mags, it has plenty of power to handle that extra round.
There's only one way to know if it will work for you or not.....get one and try it!

If your stock magazine spring is new or even just ok, your will not have any problems with a +1 or a +2 extension.
If the spring is old and has taken a compression set, then you may see some problems. Remove the base of your magazine and see how far the spring protrudes from the bottom. Does it push back flush with the bottom of the mag too easily?

I have a 27 and Pierce +1 extensions. Never had a problem, but I have never been able to get 10 rounds in any of my mags.
I have researched and done all of the voodoo dancing that people have suggested.
I think as far as adding an extra round in those mags it will never happen. I even emailed them about it, no replies. What a sham!!!!.

I had problems. Brand new 27, and one 9 round mag I put the Pearce +1 extension on. Twice at the range with HP (Winchester Ranger Ts) and FMJ (Winchester) ammo, in the middle of the mag, the rounds failed to feed (2 in a row). No problems with the same ammo in the 9 round mag w/o the extension or G22 15 round mags.
I removed the extension, and two times at the range since with no problems. There could be other factors involved, but I wont use it again on my G27. +1 round is not worth it if the gun wont fire. I do use the +0 extensions on my G30s without any problems. Try one extension at the range first to see.

Uff Da!
Want to try just one more time? Got your Glock supplied mag loading tool?
Load the mag with nine rounds.
Put the tool on it.
With your other thumb, push down on the front end of the top round in the mag like this:

And THEN push down hard with the loading tool.....this should give you room to get the tenth round started into the mag....keep pushing backwards on the round as you let the loading tool move up and the round should slide right in.
If that doesn't work, feel free to send me the mag and I'll make it work for you!

Butch.
I had already tried that. The round went partially in and did not go all the way.
The mag lips dug a couple of indentations in the casing rim.
Thanx for your suggestion.
All this could have been fixed with another 1/8 in. extra in back of the mag extension.
I bought another Glock, a G-23. That took care of it! No nonsense!
Butt length for both guns are now about same, that is with the Glock 27 mag extensions. The Glock 23 packs more!
As far as the Glock 27. The +1 mag extension are not that much longer than the +0, when measured at the front portion of the grip, below the trigger guard.
I may in the future dispose of the +1s and go back to original set up, that way I have a choice in different concealment situations between the Glock 23 and 27.
Thanks again.

One of the most common problems with getting the extra round in a mag with a Pearce +1 has to do with the insert that locks into the baseplate. If it's not seated correctly there will not be enough room in the mag for the extra round. I had that problem the first time I tried a +1. I took the mag apart, reassembled it correctly, and have never had a problem with it in the 5 years since.

Bingo! I have not tried that....I have a feeling that's the problem. The guy who sold them to me installed them for me, he was trying to provide a service, I am sure.
Thanks, I will work on that!!

OK.
I took all four mags apart, one at a time and did not see much wrong with them, but somehow now they accept the ten rounds after some strong arming. I took them apart after watching the video on how to take a Glock 27 mag apart, nicely done. I got all four magazines with ten rounds now.
New problem, when you insert the mags in the weapon, none of the mags will seat against the frame, so none of them stay flush and lock in the receiver. Makes no difference if there is a round in the chamber or not. The mags want to stay about 1/8 of an inch out of the frame.:faint:
I am leaving the ten rounds in for a while to see if there is an improvement.
I do not trust this product!
Thanks for all the suggestions and good intentions.
I took my g27 to the range yesterday to try my new pearce +1 extension. All of my other mags have +0 extensions and I have never had a FTF. The first day with the +1 I had one FTF out of 100 rounds WWB. Will not ever us it again. Through research, the +1 works fine for some, and not so well with others. Not worth it to risk it IMO...
I have several mags with a #5 follower that accept the 10 rounds with the +1 extension without a problem. I have found that other numbered followers aren't as easy to deal with.
Has anyone researched the different followers to see which ones work best?
