A Don Hume JIT is great for snubbies. Try out the prices on gunnersalley.com as they are terrific.
Thanks for the tip the JIT looks good & great price. Not sure i like trigger exposed. Definitely on my short list. Thanks again

For my 640-1, I'm going to go w/one of the following:
simplyrugged.com (pancake style - excellent retention and protection, and fits close and tight to body).
Uncle Mike's Kydex Belt (or paddle) - great tight fit, easy on / off, but won't hold as close to body.
Serpa CQC - same comment as U.M's.
Galco Speed Paddle - Maybe compromise between the first three above.
Maybe something from Comp-Tac
Yes, I know, they're all over the place in terms of carry, style, etc., but each seems to represent a decent option.

I like this, but I am unsure about the availability anymore, seeing as how it's not listed on his website anymore. It is very concealable, AND comfortable. If your interested I would call him and see if he will make it. It is called an NBS (no bull scabbard).Wild Bills Concealment holsters. http://www.wildbillsconcealment.com/

I have the speed scabbard, and really like it. The only problem is that the mouth does collapse when I draw. How is the mouth on the concealable?

How does $35 grab you? A Brand new, well made and well formed holster from www.shado.com will run you just that.

I'm an investigator for a LE agency, so on duty I carry a Glock .40.
However, off duty I almost always carry my S&W 642..and leave the big pistol at home. FWIW, I've got a Wolff Spring Kit in the 642, and have put thousands of rounds downrange, to the point where I can shoot it as good as the Glock.. So...I feel completely comfortable with it off duty..
I've been through many holsters for it, and have settled on one....the Don Hume H720..
It's "easy-on/easy-off"...but once the paddle is slipped inside your pants, has a snapped loop for security..
It's comforable, with a soft paddle...
The holster is rigid, so it "stays open" for reholstering..
Very good design...this one gets my vote for the best...and I won't put a gun in a plastic holster, but if you do, you might find a Blade-Tech or something that might work for you..

Galco Speed Paddle - for a S&W 642. I visited with a fine gentleman at Bullseye Guns and Ammo in Little Rock, AR who carrys a model 60 in this rig. Very sharp holster, hand boned tan color, nice contoured paddle and virtually no weight resting on the belt. Seeing is believing and I ordered one today from Galco's online catalog for $73.00. Web site is www.usgalco.com
