I would like to put some nice wood grips on my 642,does anyone make them as slim as the stock grips? When i check web sites they never mention thickness.

THe stock rubber grips are based on the Spegels IIRC, so get some wood spegels.

Not cheap, but worth it.

Any grade will be top quality, it's just how he rates the actual wood grain on the panels.
I have a few others with Spegels and they are S or S+.
The folks at Lightning Arms are nice to deal with, IME.
Just pick the ones you like most and go with it.

Got my Spegel grips installed, now wondering how the smooth grips handle recoil . I guess it's a little late to ask now. Look cool though.

Let us know about the recoil compared to whatever other grips you have tried.

I found the recoil with the Spegels about the same as stock . I have used the Pachmayer compac grips, very comfortable to shoot but too big for pocket carry.

Yeppers. Should be about the same as the orig grips. They just look hella better.

I might look up some Compacs for the RB N frame as the 3" 629 beats the crap out of me.

Berto if I was shooting anything bigger than .38 Spl would definetly go with the compacs most comfortable grip I"ve ever used in my limited experience. Thanks again for putting me onto the spegels their beautiful.
