View Full Version : 9mm to .40 conversion
i know it hasnt really been done for whatever reasons, but i wouldnt think that glock makes them too differently. is it possible to put a .40 locking block in a 9mm pistol frame and basically have a 9-40 conversion if i used a .40 slide?

The locking blocks are the same. What you will have to switch inside the frame (for safety reasons if nothing else) is the trigger housing/ejector. Then, with a new complete .40 upper and magazines, you will be good to go. Add up all the prices however, and it will be near as much as buying a complete used .40 pistol.

NO, the outside diameter of the Glock .40 barrel is bigger...; conversely, a *stock* Glock 9mm bbl is too small for a .40 slide, but there are conversion barrels cut to the required outside diameter..

So are you talking about running all the 40 studd on a 9mm frame. That would work but it would cost as much as a used 40. Its easier to get a 40 and then convert it to run 9mm. Thats what I do.
what i was wanting to know is if the locking blocks are truley the same, and i didnt htink they were, all i would need is the upper and an ejector and trigger? then i could essentially get the .40 upper from LWD and have a higher powered gun. i was told it is only possible the other way around.

The locking blocks are exactly the same, as are the triggers. What you will need to change inside the frame is the ejector.
Our comments are not trying to be rude - just making the point that by the time you buy that LWD upper, the internal parts for it, the barrel, and the magazines, the total will come to the cost of a used G22 or G23.
i understand you guys are not trying to be rude. i was just curious from a logical standpoint. i probably wont end up doing this. just like to know if its possible.
