View Full Version : Who here believes in Bigfoot?
I can't say that I do believe but I won't totally dismiss the idea of it either. So how many believers do we have? Anybody have any Bigfoot stories they are willing to share?
I'll just say this: the hunter who bags one will be richer than Croesus. Who wouldn't pay $50 to walk up & view the body? I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that there are members of the military who fly choppers out West at night and have seen strange things on thermal imagery. :whistling:

Discovery had a special on the Sasquatch the other night, it was interesting, alot of Scientists were studying how it walked on the 60s Patterson video and another video that a couple shot camping. It walked different than a human (swung its leg inward then outward after the leg passed the other). They had a crime scene forensics guy inspect the prints in the foot molds. Humans prints run horizontal, primates diagonally, bigfoot - vertical. Look it up it was an interesting show. Not sure what I believe, if they really existed I think someone would of caught one by now. Especially with thermal imaging and satellites.

Near a high-mountain lake on the Montana-Idaho border one early Spring, my brother found fresh footprints in the mud that were somewhat humanoid in general character. But they were about 15 inches long. Temperatures were freezing at night and mid-40's in the daytime.
Bigfoot? True nature lover? Who knows?

With all the people hunting and hiking in the wilderness coupled with the fact that no remains have ever been discovered I can't see how Bigfoot exists. What do they do to stay hidden? Do they cremate their dead? Do they cover every track? Do they live in a secret underground middle earth? Are they that intelligent?
I think if they do exist they are the source for global warming.

I don't believe in big foot myself. I think if there was a large native north American ape species we would have found it by now. Sure there are lots of places we keep finding new species in every day. But those places are very very very remote, like deep dark Africa and the bottom of the ocean. The pacific north west, is not that remote.
That being said, no proof of it existing isn't proof of it not existing. I'm willing to say that I highly doubt it, but I wouldn't say its impossible.
However if I were in the woods and saw a Big Foot and had a gun that I thought would take him down I would shoot him in a heart beat. Fame and fortune would come my way instantly

OBSERVED: I have a dog kennel where i raise and sell puppies. Every night when I get up out of the bed to go to the bath room I look out my window to check my kennels. My bathroom window looks out over my dog kennels. I don't turn on my lights while doing this because it obstructs my view. I thought I was seeing things. There standing on the other side of the pens was a 7 to 8 ft hairy creature. The dogs were all in their houses as if cowering and it was deathly quiet. He was standing facing the dog pen at which point he turned to the east walked about three steps then he turned to the north and stood there. That's when I went and got my mother. She saw it too but not as clear as I. It stood there after my mom came in then it walked into the woods. My house is surrounded on three sides by woods. It is very secluded. Every night it's here and we are terrified. It screams often. My children have heard it. I know I sound like a fruitcake I don't tell anyone because I feel like people will think I'm crazy. I'm buying motion lights to see if it will make him go away. If you know of any other method to chase him away, please, please let me know. There is no man that lives here. He's here every night, we can hear him scream. I don't know if neighbors have heard or seen anything. I don't want to be made fun of.
DESCRIPTION: 7 to 8 foot tall. I couldn't see any facial features because of the light. There is a security light by the kennels, but its not very good. His knees moved like a person's, not a bear. He had hair all over him his feet were large, that's about the best description I can give

Right over the hill from my daughter's home in Park County CO where they have 7 incidents like this on record:
www.bfro.net/GDB/show_report.asp?id=529
YEAR: 2000
SEASON: Summer
MONTH: August
DATE: 21
STATE: Colorado
COUNTY: Park County
LOCATION DETAILS: 8.8 miles west of Hwy 285, south side of Park County Road 18 (4-Mile Creek/Horseshoe Basin)
NEAREST TOWN: Fairplay, Colorado
NEAREST ROAD: Park Co. Rd. 18 (200 yards). Hwy 285 (8.8 miles)
OBSERVED: Cabin at 11,000 feet southwest of Fairplay, Colorado, 44 acres. Strange sound one night. Dog-rooster best describes it. First thought was dog hit by a vehicle, then changed to more rooster sounding. Next few days, found and photographed two footprints. Wife noticed "skunk" smell.
ALSO NOTICED: We went up every week this summer. Only saw prints and heard on this one occasion.
OTHER WITNESSES: My wife and I. Heard sound at night. Checked for prints in the morning.
OTHER STORIES: Wife noticed skunky smell on two occasions, later was told there are no skunks at 11,000 feet elevation. Witness noticed a sapling evergreen with its top broken over at about 8 feet off the ground in a nearby avalanche chute in a manner inconsistent with avalanches or rock slides.
TIME AND CONDITIONS: Sound at night. Prints found Aug 21 & 25
ENVIRONMENT: Forest turning to willow/grassy/sandy area near creek.
Follow-up investigation report:
Witnesses, a 55-year-old retired geologist and his wife, were sitting in their cabin outside Fairplay when they heard the unusual vocalization.
"At first it sounded like a dog that had been hit by car. Then it turned into a sort of rooster sound. The best we could guess was it was some animal like a sheep getting attacked by a mountain lion. It was dark so we sat tight in the cabin."
Witness estimated the creature making the noise was no more than 100 yards away. "It was very loud. It kept going on for 20 minutes. It was spooky.''
A few days later, the couple found two footprints while walking near a marshy area at the foot of an avalanche chute a couple hundred feet from their cabin. They said the tracks were found in a wash that contained abundant wildlife sign.
"We call it the animal freeway, because we find deer, elk, bear and all sorts of prints out there. But nothing like this one."
Witness said the first track, which had filled with water, appeared to be 16 to 18 inches long.
Wife decribed earlier encounter (no date) with an unknown smell while taking an evening walk with a friend. ""My intiial thought was skunk, but it wasn' as acrid as a skunk or sharp. It didn't burn your eyes, but it had a kind of a dirty, musky skunky smell to it.''
"Then we then we found out skunks don't live at 11,000 feet, so that made us nervous."
I just returned from a trip up the ice roads way up in the Northwest Territories a couple of weeks ago (almost to the Arctic Circle). I'm telling you, unless you've been to places like that, you have no idea how vast and remote some of those regions are. ANYTHING could live there for years and we would never know it.

There are some who think I am bigfoot.
In Grade school I wrote a paper about bigfoot. No different than any college paper, footnotes, bibliography, etc. I spent more time in the local university researching everything they had on yeti, bigfoot, etc, than I spent on papers once I was actually a student at said university! LOL
My wife and I have visited the Bigfoot museum in Nor-cal, and have other fun bigfoot adventures and stories.
Here is my favorite: (True story)
Last summer I was visiting my sister in So-Cal and was relaying a story to my (then) 4 and a half year old nephew. (The event happened some years ago - no bigfoot - I am guessing a bobcat/cougar/bear) So I began telling my nephew the story: it goes like this, myself, "grandpa" (my dad) my "Happy" (my dad's dog) was walking on my property (backing up to national forest) at night... beautiful, the crickets are amazingly loud, it is crazy how loud the "soft" night sounds of a forest are. We went way off into the woods were we could barely see the lights of the house, as we we were returning we were in sight of the house, when suddenly it went quiet. The hairs stood up on the back of my neck and my dad's dog looked around and then BOLTED for the house. In the 12 years I have known that dog, he has never acted like this... AT THIS POINT IN TELLING THE STORY TO MY NEPHEW I ASKED HIM: "WHAT DO YOU THINK IT WAS, DO YOU THINK IT WAS PERHAPS BIGFOOT?"
To which the kid responded "No, because you were already right there."
My wife, myself, my parents, my sister and her husband all burst out laughing - I was crying before I could pull myself together.
My nephew was confused... why is that so funny?
I am bigfoot! ROTFL (Size 13 EEEE shoes, and many are still too small!)

Interesting tidbit: it's a person in a suit. Why? Ask any animal behaviorist and they'll tell you immediately why. Apes and monkeys don't swing their arms like that when they walk.
And then there's the part where the dude in the suit turns to look directly into the camera.

There is a special either on the History Channel or the Discovery Channel, both are running shows about it, where they take the Patterson video and digitize it for more in depth analysis. One of the things they notice and focus on is the thigh muscle flexing while it is walking. That is a bit too precise for me to easily discount as a hoax. It is also interesting that they show more of the Patterson video of it walking away.
I am skeptical, but not opposed to the idea that it is possible.
One of the reports asks if there is a way to keep it away. I would suggest putting camera's around the property, it is obviously painfully camera shy.
To me, the tales that go way back to native American's make me think there is something that might be out there.
I have couple pictures of a bigfoot that was killed, but Asus has my mobo (it's repaired but they won't ship it back to me) for my primary computer. If this thread is still going next week, I will post those pictures.

Total BS. State their names & their education. The primate experts on the Sasquatch special (real PhDs) on Discovery said NO HUMAN could replicate that gait. Also, the Patterson film shows the right humerus had been broken sometime in the past. So in 1967 someone not only donned a suit of some sort, knew not to move the neck on its axis, threw in some fake breasts AND a broken humerus as a final touch(?). No way Jose. FWIW, Diane Fossey, the "Gorillas in the Mist" is a believer in Sasquatch. :wavey:

Here's a tidbit from Mormon folklore
An excerpt from The Life of David W. Patten, by L.A. Wilson, p.46, 47:
“As I was riding along the road on my mule I suddenly noticed a very strange personage walking beside me. He walked along beside me for about two miles. His head was about even with my shoulders as I sat in my saddle. He wore no clothing, but was covered with hair. His skin was very dark. I asked him where he dwelt and he replied that he had no home, that he was a wanderer in the earth and traveled to and fro. He said he was a very miserable creature, that he had earnestly sought death during his sojourn upon the earth, but that he could not die, and his mission was to destroy the souls of men. About the time he expressed himself thus, I rebuked him in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by virtue of the Holy Priesthood, and commanded him to go hence, and he immediately departed out of my sight.”
:wavey: Show me where Dian (no e) professed to believing in bigfoot. State names and education, and I'll do the same. Show me unequivocal proof of a bigfoot that hasn't been debunked already. No, grainy movies and second hand stories don't count. Neither does "expert" testimony from the Discovery channel (who also does specials on ghosts, hauntings, white noise, ESP, the Loch Ness monster, etc). PhD does not mean "inhuman and invulnerable to wishful thinking." There are "experts" on both sides of the argument here, just like there are with any other debate about cryptozoological creatures and supernatural phenomena.
Like I said, being granted a PhD does not endow you with mystical, superhuman powers. People are susceptible to suggestion. There's a big need for people to believe in something bigger than themselves; mystery is always fun and exciting.
This bigfoot crap reminds me of the oh-so-entertaining episode of Bull****! where they looked at cryptozoology. They shot some crappy footage of a guy in a suit, planted some fake "tracks," and posted the video on some free webspace. Not much later, they had the crazies coming out of the woodwork, sending them letters and offering to put them in books and on TV. A lot of letters came from people claiming to be PhDs in their respective fields. Imagine that.
Until there's actual, scientific proof for the existance of some evolutionary missing link in the backwoods of America (that we somehow still haven't truly discovered, despite many "sightings"), the BS flag will be raised high and proud on crap like this.

Ive read alot of interesting history on the topic of bigfoot.Alot of native cultures have 1 variety or another in their folklore, some even claim its a protector.I think its just that, folk stories told around campfires and people who enjoy entertaining the rest of us,like a mysterious boggieman we all heard about one time or another.
There has been no physical evidence aside from footprints and sightings. If in fact it is some kind of ape, where are the remains or hair samples?maybe they bury their dead and use specially made bigfoot outhouses to cover up their existance.lol.
IF you want to believe in it, thats fine for you but me, Its just a story until someone proves it otherwise.

It's funny that this is the most interesting thing I have ever read about Sasquatch.
If I were to ever see one, or a UFO, this is what I would do:
I rebuked him in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and commanded him to go hence,
And maybe pick his brain a little. Which could be why I've never seen one.
But I do love this subject. It reminds me of the era when man thought the world was flat. The most arrogant people, like many in this thread, think they are so smart, they cannot believe anything. They are too (pseudo) "intellectual" to believe. Those who thought the world was round and not flat, were ridiculed by those who thought they were so smart and just knew the world was flat. History is filled with examples of things the most (pseudo)"intelligent" people thought were impossible, but were always proved wrong.
The funny thing is, the naysayers will say "show me a picture or tangible evidence" but when a picture or a video clip is shown, they scoff at it and pick it apart and refuse to believe it. They say there should be a dead carcass, but in 25+ years of avid hunting and outdoors experience, I have never seen a deer or bear carcass either.
As for me, I will "believe it when I see it", but I won't discount the possibility, or slam those who might already believe. Possibly because I lack the arrogance to believe I am the smartest person in the world, and I am open to all possibilities. I certainly will enjoy the subject and the possibility of it's existance.
IIRC, Panda Bears were not discovered until the last few decades.
I believe. Its hard to disprove something. Of all of the sightings and footprints, only one needs to be real.
Oh, I offer this:
http://www.lh1.org/stabilized_sasquatch.gif
a stabilized version of the Patterson film.
We have found bones and bits of animals millions of years old. We have found evidence of man that is hundreds of thousands of years old but we've never found once piece, sliver, hair, bone or any evidence of a man ape.
One can't prove a negative, but if something existed, evidence of it would been discovered by now.

Somewhere, someplace, sometime, some redneck would had to have popped off some rounds at one (if they existed) and would have it as a rug on his mobile home/trailers floor. If its in the woods and it moves someone would be trying to shoot it.

A true redneck would field dress it in the woods, bury the remains, take it home and throw it in the shed to properly age.
I can't say that I do believe but I won't totally dismiss the idea of it either. So how many believers do we have? Anybody have any Bigfoot stories they are willing to share?
I have seen Bigfoot in northern Minnesota
I think that with our population, and virtually every inch of our country having been explored, there is no way that Bigfoot could exist without having been found by now.
And if it is out there, I assume that you wouldn't need any special tags or season to take it, right? Would Bigfoot just be classified as a varmint?

Why? Ask any animal behaviorist and they'll tell you immediately why. Apes and monkeys don't swing their arms like that when they walk
Um, maybe it's a different kind of ape? I suppose humans couldn't exist from a chimp's point of view since no apes walk around upright all the time.
is it possible ? yes
probable ? proly not
there are new species of animals found everday that folks thought was extinct millions of years but have been found to be alive ,so im not gonna say bigfoot does not live out there . quite possible there some kind of saquatch alive .

I believe........that the existence of Bigfoot is highly unlikely. And I would never shoot one.
First of all, a person that shot a bigfoot and admitted it might very likely face charges of some kind. Second of all, I just wouldn't want to kill one, even for (possible) fame and fortune.

I can't say that I do believe but I won't totally dismiss the idea of it either. So how many believers do we have? Anybody have any Bigfoot stories they are willing to share?
Sure Back in the late 70s I had a friend up in Washington state, he ran a 711.
Of course they had bigfoot sightings a lot. One day a New Yorker asked him if he had seen any BigFoot, my friend said he had lived there all his life and had never seen any bigfoot. The New Yorker called him a backwoods redneck and said he wouldn't know a Bigfoot if one kicked him.
That night my friend went home and made two big feet out of plywood, hooked them up to his boots then went out in the fresh snow and ran around in the woods for a hour.
The next day there were all these tourist standing around talking about the footprints. My buddy saw the New Yorker and asked if he had seen the foot prints. The New Yorker was very excited and was going out in the woods looking for Bigfoot. My buddy said he did double the sales that day and for about a month after. He often says that he's just a stupid backwoods redneck that doesn't know nothing.:rofl::rofl:
I live in Oregon and have yet to ever see anything in the woods I couldn't identify.....but thats just me.:wavey:

I think if there is a Bigfoot we will know within a year or two although I don't believe they exist.
They need food and water to survive and with their daily treks they will over a period of a few days leave a trail or path that can be followed. Any hunter knows that following an animal trail will generally lead to a bedding area, food or water.
The last few years have seen a proliferation of inexpensive game cameras that can be attached to a tree and left for days or weeks. The cameras use infared triggering and will record a digital photo with a date and time stamp. They will take hundreds of photos before they fill the memory. They even work at night.
Hunters put these where they feel animals will be moving as in trails near water etc. and then retrieve them to down load the photos.
The price of these camers has come down to the point where thousands have been sold.
I have five myself.
If there is anything like a Bigfoot it will be photographed eventually and sooner rather than later.

With a game camera that date and time stamps you can establish a pattern. Say it always goes to water between midnight and two am, once you know this you can do just about anything to get one. Set up more cameras, shoot one, call in the experts or the Game and Fish Dept. etc.
