I had shot some 40 S&W 180 GR. TMJ and they seemed pretty good with no problems. I wouldn't think of using them for carry though.

My question is about CCI Blazer 40 S&W# 180 GR. Gold Dot HP.

Has anyone had any experiance with these, and could share their thoughts, good or bad?

I use the 180 for pratice all the time. Buy it and 9mm by the thousands.
Blazer is good, hot ammo.

I wouldn't want to get hit by one!!! I'd also feel confident carrying it.

Thanks!

I had heard so many good comments on the Gold Dot bullet, but really haven't heard much about CCI Blazer.

I suspect that CCI has drop this Blazer Gold Dot combination though. There were only two boxes left, and they had sale price. I was unable to find this combination available, by searching the internet. I only found TMJ, and JHP.

If you want more opinions on Blazer ammo, do a search. There have been at least 3 threads recently on this topic.

Blazer JHP is Gold Dot bullets.

The Blazer 180gr JHP does pretty well on bowling pins coming out of my G24.

I use Blazer (180gr FMJ) for practice. Never a problem. It is also my 9mm practive load too--agai, never a problem. Do not use for carry.

I usually by it by the case over the net. Usually cheaper than anything local, even with shipping charges.

I have used several thousand rounds of Blazer in 38, 357, 9mm, 40, 45acp over the past few years. Also have used Blazer 22 long rifle. Have never had fail to feed or eject or fail to fire. Used 180 and 165 tmj in 40. Great stuff. Speer does make Gold Dot. The company makes CCI, Speer, Blazer and some others.

I have never had any problem with Blazer feeding or firing. I do have some issues with it however. I was at an IDPA match and was shooting the last of my .40 Wolf. Folks complain that its dirty but I shoot it quite accurately. I foolishly mixed some Blazer with it in a mag and let me tell you the difference is dramatic. As soon as I hit the Blazer it was much louder and seemed to kick more which really f___ed up my scores. Even the safety official scoring the match had to laugh at the difference. I have shot it since and can't shoot it as tightly as I could the UMC and wolf ammo.

I talked to one of the warranty guys at Glock last week, they said ammo they shoot there is CCI Blazer to test guns. He told me 700,000 to 1,000,000 rounds a year! Thats a lot of ammo!

i would not know! i bought some Blazer 9mm the other day to try it out, but the place i shoot, won't let me use it. they make you sweep up your brass and put it in a trash can, so they can reload it. since you can't reload the Blazer alum. case, they won't let you shoot it. what a crock huh? it's all about them! i'll have to find some where else to go, so i can try the Blazer sounds like good stuff. And best of all for practice.... it was dirt cheap.

Do them a favor and order a case of the military surplus 9mm that's been popular recently that's brass cased, berdan primed. Looks like reloadable brass, but it's not. :)

The range I use doesn't allow Blazer either.
