I am looking to get a tripod for my camera. My roomate has two Quantaray tripods. While trying to use his tripods the other day I found his base would not screw on to my camera all the way. The stud bottomed out in the camera before it tightened up and the camera was unstable on the tri-pod. I am thinking I'll start out with a monopod, as I can use it while hunting as well, but would like to get a tripod eventually. Any recommendations in the 50-100 dollar range?

The fit and finish on Bogen/Manfrotto gear is incredible. I used a Canon tripod for a couple years and now I regret not purchasing a quality tripod earlier.
