I was thinking about getting a laser sight on my 23, any advice? My other carry weapon has night sights and I was thinking about those too for the 23, buy since I already have factory sights I thought maybe I would look into laser sights. Any input? I will say I like the night sights on my PM9- I can find it quickly in the dark if I need to. My CCW instructor said he didn't like nite sights because it gave away your "position" in the dark. I don't really know what he's talking about in regards to a civilian, as I can't see myself sneaking up on anyone. He also teased me about my 23 being a "girls gun" (he carries a full sized 10mm- or so he says). After researching I have found, in my opinion, that the 23 is the best all around concealed carry weapon available (at least for me). I think he might be full of s@%t. Anyway, I digress.

ya, he's full of poo poo. I'd go with the night sights over laser. If anything, the laser will give your position way quicker than the night sights if that's even a realistic concern. And unless you have a lot of practice, you might have difficulty using the laser in the dark properly, not to mention you may have trouble actually turning on the thing unless it's got a grip pressure switch.

I have a laser and honestly, it's more for novelty and fun, more than anything.. For purely practical purposes, I'd go with the night sights. especially the 8 dot configuration works really well.

1) I favor the LaserMax, internal laser for the Glocks, but that's me. We've had good service from two LaserMax units in our G19 and G21, over two years, and thousands of rounds.

There are also the rail-mounted lasers, like Uni-Max, plus the laser/light combos.

Crimson Trace is another option. See if you like the affect on your grip of the gun. If so, it's a quality product.

With this kind of stuff--pop the extra $$$ for quality equipment!

2) Night sights are a must, IMO, for a CCW or bedside gun. In jungle warfare, I could see where night sights could give your position away--so stay out of the jungle! :tongueout:

Glock OEM tritium sights, Meprolight, Trijicon, and AmeriGlo are all winners!

3) Your gun and caliber is a good choice for a CCW.

Your instructor may need a 10 mm, if he's as irritating as you say...

I dont see how night sights will give away your position. Ya cant see them over a few feet away and if the perp's where he's supposed to be,(in front of ya) he cant see them anyway. I have come to the conclusion your CCW instructor is a mall ninja. But thats based on my 20 years experence in law enforcement. Oh, and I guess my 23 with night sights is a girls gun too. :whistling:

Your instructor sounds like a real genius. If your night sights give you away, you were screwed before it happened, because he was already behind you.

I have the CT on my 23. No matter what people may think, nothing improves point shoot like a laser. Oh, and I have Meps on all my GLOCKs now, and I'll bet we could dig up a few graves and see what their opinion of the .40 is.

Thanks for the info fellas. Guess for me it's going to be a "try before you buy" kind of thing. Think I'll get the night sights anyway for now. I think his full sized 10mm is probably easily concealed right behind his ego. Thanks for the links RayB!

Your instructor reminds me of one that I had to take a course from to get a Sheriff's work permit. He had every McGyver mannerism down pat.
