As I probably mentioned recently, I am taking the NRA Basic Instructor training to qualify to teach:

Shotgun
Muzzleloading Rifle
Rifle

This is being sponsored by the local Boy Scout Council. They have a camp just north of Torrington (CT) with an 8 lane shooting range, and they need to increase the pool of instructors.

We did the Shotgun portion of this training Friday night and most of Saturday. On Saturday, when we actually went out to the range, I started actually hitting a fair number of "clays"... once I stopped trying to out-think the process. :)

LOTS OF FUN! :supergrin::cool: ;)

No,

You did not mention! :)

I am thinking of doing one of these "NRA instructor" classes too .... :)

I'm sure you enjoyed it!

I've been distracted this week. (Thus, the delay in posting).

We finished doing the Rifle portion of the training program last weekend.

Now, I am just waiting on the official paperwork from the NRA to arrive stating that I am certified NRA Basic Instructor for:

Shotgun
Muzzle Loading Rifle
Rifle

:wavey:

Next.... "Pistol".
Date: TBA

I have had my NRA instructors certification for many years, now, and although certified in three areas, I have limited my instruction to the basic rifle and handgun instruction.

(Most fun thing I ever did was to coach the rifle club membership at a local jr. high.)

Like teaching anything, the instructor learns a lot just going through the certification process and will also learn quite a bit from his/her students.

It can be a lot of fun and you will meet some terrific people along the way. Enjoy.

Quality training. Not as in depth as law enforcement classes, but very good stuff. Money and time well spent, in my opinion.

I enjoyed going through the basic pistol instructor's course. It was a couple days well spent.
