OK, is this really an improvement over my favorite SHTF/survival caliber 32H&R mag?

Or is it Ruger's attemp at world control by reinventing every caliber out there?

Before anyone asks........

My heros have always been frontiersmen and one of their main points is that you need the right equipment, just enough really, to get the job done aka less ball and powder. They relied on there wits and skills and proven equipment to get them through the untamed wilderness.

Now, between my childhood heros and current crop off heros, VN vets, retired LEOs and woodmen my thinking on weapons and calibers is different from most of my generation. Believe it or not, there is alot of woods in Southern Illinois and enough to live in isolation if you want. Anyways I lean to the just enough appoarch, even if its not seen as completely legal or right in the eyes of most.

Now I like the 32H&R. Its the only caliber I reload for. Its able to take deer size animals out to 50 yards with the right bullet placement and bullet. I've seen it done with a 4" SP101. My Mom carries a SP101 in 32H&R. Its a nice controllable and accurate combo, after a trigger job and new sights. I feel comfortable to have a Ruger Single Six in the caliber. Was going to trade my 357 SP101 (short barrel) for one in 32H&R mag and adjustable sights, but I might wait for one in 327 Mag. I feel comforable with it as a self defense caliber and six shots. Its an accurate caliber, capable of very good groupings. Several older retired LEOs carry S&W and Taurus j-frames and small frame revolvers in the 32H&R mag. They say its easy on the joints and can do the job up close. Plus I've seen a few put five out of five rounds in the bottom of a soda can out to 20 yards with a snubbie! No arguements here.

I do have to wonder why a name like 327 Mag. Sounds ALOT like 357 Mag, only "lighter" and less filling! LOL

I can't decide how I feel on this one. Part of me thinks it's a solution in search of a problem. But that's not my biggest fear.

At least you can find .32 Mag in some B&M's. On the other hand, it's damn near impossible to find catridges like .45 GAP locally. Looking at a 2003 Winchester catalog, you find a lot of WSM and WSSM cartridges. With the death of Win hunting rifles, many of those chamberings are already dead. A few were picked up by Rem/Ruger/Savage, but many are just gone.

I'm a little leery of new carts for the first few years. Then again, I still love 9mm's, .38's, and .30-30's. My rifles and half of my handguns use cartridges designed for black powder. Listen to this crazy old coot at your own risk! ;)

Nothing wrong with that!

I'm wondering if it has anything on the 32/20 loaded hot? I would think it is easier to reload due to the straight walled case.
