Hi all,
I've always wanted an AR-15/M16; even if only the lower receiver. My search ended when I signed up with BoG last July 2007. This is the result as of yesterday:

Everything you see here, except for the Ergo grip, the PMag (and the improvised rifle rest), was supplied by a BoG. You know who you are, take a bow, you have my eternal gratitude.:wavey::wavey:

Catsmeow,
That's one good rifle. Plain and simple. But elegant. Congratulations!
I wanted to zero my rifle this weekend, but I had previous a commitment.

Thanks, Isuzu. It didn't look that way when I got it last year, but a little bit of this and a little bit of that... Took me lots of rounds to zero its new sights. Plus as ess45 said, I got the disease; I want an optic for it next.

Now there's an idea...
Jawel, the lower is a Colt (only four years younger than me as per its SN) anodized and its springs replaced, and the upper receiver is a CMT/Stag like Bikethief's, topped with a DPMS carry handle. The barrel is a 20-incher.
thanks catsmeow,
also what bolt did you use?
What can I say Cats Meow, all the hard work paid off.CLASSIC and Wicked .Regards--------------Sweater

Very nice BTW. San ka bumili ng Upper Reciever? what brand and how much?? tnx
TIA

Our Philippine Marines use DPMS uppers for their sniper rifles. The lowers are standard M16s. They've had very good success with this combination.

thanks catsmeow,
also what bolt did you use?
It's still the old Bolt Carrier Group from the original rifle. Indeed I have to control myself, eh si Cebuboy and the others kasi.... I caught BRD from them... I wasn't the first and I won't be the last...
Thanks for all your replies!:wavey:

Armscor 5.56 is P23 each at True Weight here; I was there last Monday to buy 120rds. Same for South African M1A4 at APL Trading, but since it's Berdan primed it can't be reloaded, unlike Armscor. Perhaps there in NCR it's less. I also found a 20rd box of Lake City (LC stamp) in stripper clips; one of the rounds was missing but I got it anyway, it's reputed to be very accurate.
If any of you have a source of ammo for less than what I'm paying for it here, I'd appreciate it if you'd PM me. I go to Manila from time to time.

She's a beauty catmeow, can't stop ogling. I came accross a wed site yesterday ARES TECH they have a drop in kit to convert regular AR to gas piston very much like the H&K 416.

Try asking at shops that do plaques, trophies, etc. The gunsmith who does that in Bacolod is Efren Billanes. He used to work for Citation Plaques and Trophies of Tony Gatuslao. He was the one who first brought hardchroming to Negros in the early '90's. He is very good when it comes to gun finishes.

I had my lower done by Safariland, Mandaue City. Thing is, it came out exactly the black shade and texture of a Glock frame; the upper was grayer. The difference is not so noticeable.
The other guys here prefer to spray olive-drab Alumahyde on theirs.

@izusu, efren is now the offical gunsmith of ECJ. His based in Balbina Pontevedra. His brother elmar is the one taking care of the shop in bacolod. they are good when it comes to rifles.
Aside from quality finish i recently I saw the "INFANT" that efern converted into gas-piston. he said the owner tested it in full mode with 4pcs 30round magazine and it didnt jam. the only thing to change is the handguard. the diameter shoud be bigger to accomodate the piston.
If any of you guys want to convert your basic AR to gaspiston, his the gunsmith to visit. just pm and i will glady send you his contact number.
He was already starting to work at Balbina before I left. Danding buys him whatever equipment he needs. They did refurbish quite a number of Garands and they sure were accurate.
If you don't mind me asking, how much do they charge to covert an M16 from direct gas to piston?

what is the purpose/reason for the conversion? TY.

The M16 system of operation, which started with the Swedish Ljungmann, through the French MAS, until Eugene Stoner adopted it, is direct impingement, that is, there is no gas piston. The gas is piped back through a stainless tube and blows at a key on top of the bolt carrier so the latter will do the usual extracting-ejecting-feeding cycle. As you can imagine, all that gas is sooty and soon after extended firing the whole bolt carrier and upper is very dirty and full of carbon, which would then cause problems unless cleaned regularly.
The gas piston eliminates all this. No gas makes it to the receiver. No more aggravation for the M16 shooter. A lot of makers in the States now offer gas-piston AR-15s, particularly POF. http://www.pof-usa.com/about/about.htm

I haven't tried reloading 5.56; I give my brass away to one who does, for his .223 chambered SPR, especially the nice shiny Armscor 07 brass. I heard it will cost about P15. Anyway I'll ask if it's feasible to use it in my rifle.
I used to buy WCC77 in True Weight Mandaue City for about P25 per round; they're now gone. 5.56 in True Weight is a here today gone tomorrow proposition:supergrin:; it's the suki for a lot of rifle shooters, so if you put off buying rifle ammo today it may be gone when you come back for it next week.
