I head down to a division home game every year, haven't picked one out for this year yet. There's nothing in this world that compares to a Raider Nation division home game parking lot party. We had a tips and tails party a couple years back, prime rib and lobster, all the top shelf booze you could handle, until someone showed up with pot brownies and crippled three guys. They only ate one or two but they didn't make it to the game, even Warren Sapp stopped his black hummer to point at them and laugh as he rolled in through the parking lot. I am smarter than to try that stuff, no thanks. The Nation is a breed of it's own, the Raiders with Al...well they are most definitely the most colorful of the teams. We suck but we never give up, there is no "rebuilding phase" in the Raider lingo, it's long bombs and go for the Super bowl every year.

Born and bred in the East Bay and bleed Silver & Black. Born into the Raider Nation 1965, witnessed the best and worse. Go home a couple times a year and catch a game.

Nothing beats a Raider AFCW home game for sure! I'm surrounded by Seahack fans and get razzed all the time. I never pass up the chance to ask... Got Lombardi?

I can't afford any NFA guns and I don't like state income tax so washington works for me.

OTA= orchard Training Area,
-if you go south (away from downtown) on Broadway and cross over the freeway then take your first left (not the freeway your next left) street name "S Enterprise St." follow that around to the left it will turn into Amity Rd and then take a Right onto "S production street" then take a Right on "Gowen Rd" and follow it all the way out to Gowen field Airforce base and take a left (there will be a left hand turn lane) on "Pleasant valley rd." you are then going to drive on that for about 10 min, you will go over railroad tracks and hit a dirt road, then keep driving on that till you hit the HUGE power lines that have a dirt road running under them, I then normally go right on that road and drive till one of the little roads on the left and shoot out there.

I have friends in Coeur d'Alene I agree its beautiful up there. I don't get up there as much as I would like to. But south Idaho has its pretty points too. The Owyhee mountains if you go south enough are beautiful and the good thing about where I am is an hour north and south and you are in the mountains. I have a feeling I will end up back on the Oregon coast though being as that is where my wife is from and its getting a bit to crowded around here for my taste. Yes, a brand new Costco right in the middle of CDA (Coeur d'Alene), Sportsmans Warehouse in the Costco parking lot is a tough one to pass up and a new Cabelas in Post Falls. I mainly sell new construction, which is still moving well here when I can put someone in a brand new home that is 2100sf for $250k or less. 1200sf homes are about $160k here brand new. I bought 7 years ago and got a 2400sf home on a third acre in Hayden for $114k, very happy with that purchase.

I looked at your realty website. All I can say is damn. Some of those properties can't believe they are selling for so much. By the time that I finish my college education, places are going to cost a lot more.
I was wondering my parents live down in Worley on 40 acres. How much are acres going for down there currently?

Yep, the realtors have whored out Idaho to the point that it is quickly becoming a playground for the rich and famous and are changing the political and philosophical charm of the state.

my parents bought a few acres a mile from Dworshak reservoir in `82 and it was a great place to go and relax on the weekend.

Now, they are surrounded by million-dollar cabins owned by people back East and constantly have ATVs running through their property and tearing up the roads.:steamed:

I want to stay in Idaho, specifically Northern Idaho but land is just getting so expensive. I don't see how in 4 or 8 years, I can afford any of the property up there. It is so beautiful but those damn Californians are bringing California to the place that they tried to get away from California. My parents moved to their property in 1997. On their road, they already have multiple complexes going up, a couple multi million dollar homes, and a damn nudist colony. ICK! Gross! A bunch wrinkley old men and women running around in the nude. You have to love county commissioners that they pay more attention to special interest groups, then the people that they are supposed to be working for.

What to talk about? Hmmmmm. Well, I am thinking about getting a G19 or G30sf for practicing and home defense. Which one should I get? I don't have tons of money so I like the idea of 9mm for ammo prices but damn, 45 acp for defense. Any suggestions. Oh by the way, I already have G23 which I carry.

Yeah, a G19 will be rough on my hands. I have S&W 340sc which is a real hoot to shoot with full power 357 magnum rounds. That powerful 9mm is just so big, fast powerful, and scary. I don't know if I can handle it.:tongueout::wavey:

Point being, it's narrow and *poppy* and the grip is kinda short (although not as short as the G36)...oh, and all around 9mm just kinda sucks.

Today at Cabelas, the price for 9mm was $20, 40s&w was 33, and 45 was $43.
I just can't believe how expensive that ammo is. I am definitely not going plinking often with 45 acp. Anyway, there are some awesome 1911s out there but the good ones are just to expensive, and the G30sf that I would like to own is, no where to be found down here. Oh well. I understand that 9mm sucks but it is cheap. I guess that I should probably just admit that a girl is showing me up.:crying:

What's up fellow Idahoan's? I am proud to be from spud land, am going to school on the eastern, cold side of our great state. This is kind of detrimental to fishing and shooting for now, but in a few months I hope to be flyfishing on the Henry's Fork and burning powder as often as the college budget allows. Raised in Nampa/Caldwell, I hear it's warm over there! I would be down with a shoot after the 15th of April, but before the 21st(summer school.) Hey, how are those Aggies?! ha. My two teams, the Cougars and Broncos are still in the March Madness. No offense though, the Aggies are good. Oh yeah, I will bring my kimber if my 49r's hat is allowed with all that silver and black!

Yes you are OK to carry there. National no, State yes, and you don't even need a permit to carry concealed as long as you are "recreating" so it's all good.

Thanks, Greendrake for answering my question about the parks.

On the other note, I have been to the Parma range with my military unit. It was hard but fun. We did reflexive firing, along with firing while moving up on targets, shooting around barricades, and in groups of two, we had to clear out a trench with different targets around each corner. It kicked butt. I just wish that we had gone out there again.

I shot IDPA once a month at Parma, IPSC once a month at Emmett, and Cowboy at Black's Creek and Emmett. Also, the Impact Guns shop in Meridian runs an indoor IDPA match every month with the guys from Parma. Not hard to get shooting, I never was a full-fledged member of ANY of these clubs! You just show up and shoot with the guys, it was pretty laid back, but safe and educational. Parma goes so far as to run a HOT RANGE...pretty unheard of in todays day and age. The thinking was, you're already carrying CCW anyway, walking around with a loaded gun shouldn't be that big of a deal, just don't draw it till yer on the firing line....we never had an accident in the 5years I shot there. Parma also offers a couple guys with real world experience who like to do "Patrol shoots" (shooting a 400 yd course of fire on the run carrying all yer gear), long distance shoots, we're talking like 900 yds here, and we often had a gentleman from Oregon coming to teach us certified classes in things like tactical shotgun, advanced handgun use, things like that. Look up the website (google PGRC) and hook up with either Aaron Goodfellow or his dad Neill. The guy to contact at Emmett for IPSC is Rich Redovian, his e-mail is on the Gem County Gun Club webpage (google GCRGC).
As for Indiana, I'm from here and moved back to help out my folks who are getting up there in years. I've got 20 acres in Southern Indiana and can shoot deer out my back door, but it's still not like hikin the foothills and jumpin some Chukar or Huns. I'll be back out there in another 10-15 years if you all haven't let the Californians take over and pave over all of the Treasure Valley!

That is something that I am worried about with my parents. They have a few years before I can see them at that point of needing help. The thing is that i know how fragile health can be. I am trying to get through school all of that before anything happens to them. I know that my brothers and my sister are in no shape to help take care of them.
I am sorry to say but Southern Idaho looks like especially the Boise area has been taken over by a certain group of unmentionalble people. I love Northern Idaho so much more. My parents own a house that is surrounded by blue grass that the deer love to graze on. A lot of times, you can shoot just from the back door of the house. There are tons of deer up in Northern Idaho. I helped my brother skin a deer but I still need to learn to do it all on my own.
Take care.

I have thought about 9mm but I can get a couple mags and conversion barrel for my G23 if I really want to shoot 9mm. On the other hand, I would like to get a full set, 1-40s&w, 1-45acp, and 1-9mm. It would be another 450 dollars or so. If I did it, I would especially go through Glock because they sell them cheaper then the places around here since I am reserve. Why don't you have your wife order a Glock through the Hero's price. It will save you some green, if you don't need it right now.

Pocatello here!!!

Born and raised here in Idaho and have lived here most of my life other than a few years overseas. I love it here and love the rest of the state as well. We usually vacation in central Idaho as I have a fondness for the Selway/Bitteroot. I have only ventured up north a few times and words can't describe it. Those of us in the Rockies and Northwest are truly blessed.

I still have a long way to go. I am getting close to finishing all of my prerequisites. By the time that I start the nursing program, I should be able to finish a lot of the electives that they want you to take to finish with a bachelor's degree.

The tutor for anatomy and physiology is asking me to tutor for Koob's A&P class next year, and I think that I will do it. It should be fun. Hey, it will give me a part time job at 9 dollars an hour too. At least it is something extra.:wavey:

04-19-2008, 23:25
I thought with the new program you pretty much have to have prereqs done first, because the new program is only 2.5 years to bachelors, no associates option like there is now.

And yeah, tutoring for A and P will be good, you'll learn/remember a lot more than the average student....and get paid.

Got out when I could GlockTotin!!! (((ducking))) :whistling:

My folks live near Blackfoot. Got family in Poky, American Falls, Twin, Boise, Idaho Falls too.

Idaho is ok, pay sucked major butt there......couldn't make ends meet. The only way you make anything is to work out at the INEEL site west of Idaho Falls.........those folks make alot more than the average worker in Poky and I.F.

I got out to make a better living and I am doing it. I make about 5 times what I made in Idaho. Cost of living is not much lower there either according to my friends still there. Had to move south and to a huge city to make a better living. :dunno:

I may be out in those parts in July.......that's a MAYBE. I cringe when I think of dropping 600 bucks for an airfare to SLC, then have to rent a car to drive up there..........can you say "$1,000 vacation"?? I knew ya could!!

I applied spring of last year, and I was denied. I am guessing because I had just gotten out of the military with no college. Two of the classes that I needed to take for the prerequisites when they changed over to the new system, I was unable to take. Now I have to wait another year so I can apply to the program.

A lot of the students that I go to class with think it is unfair because I catch onto things faster than they do. I jokingly tell them that I am cheating. I have about 8 years of experience in the medical field between EMT-B, CNA, and Medic in the military. Which helps me out a whole lot.

What are your plans with your degree? What type of facility are you wanting to work at? Any recommendations that you can give me about the nursing program.

I've already got my associates in nursing, been working as an RN at St. Al's on the medical floor.

And as for tips....I don't know, I hear the new nursing program is better....but with any college program....learn what you can, and jump through the hoops. In your first year of work you'll learn 100x more than you learned in your time in nursing school.....

Where is everyone? Has everyone turned into spuds or something?

I finally got my G30sf, and I love it. It is a great shooting pistol. I am wondering if I should get another Glock pistol like a 21sf? Or should I get an AR15 or a AK47? Any suggestions.
