I have "Hewlett-Packard Company Compaq Presario" computer that I bought about 2 years ago. I have MFSX and I can play it now with a decent frame rate, but only if I dumb down the display options. I'd like to be able to turn them up to see all of the scenery, vehicles, etc. I'm assuming my video card is the weak link but I really have no idea. I'm not really computer savvy, though I have added RAM myself and helped a friend replace a couple of hard drives and basic stuff like that. What would you guys recommend I get to get this thing going? Am I looking at having to spend hundreds?

The computer has the following specs:
AMD Sempron Processor 3500+
1.99 GHz
960 MB of RAM
Windows XP, Service Pack 2

Video card:
ATI Radeon Xpress 200 Series

At least I assume that's the video card, I got that info from the "Device Manager" menu then I expanded "Display Adapters".

Flight Simulator X lists the following requirements:
* Microsoft® Windows® XP SP2 / Vista
* PC with 1 GHz equivalent or higher processor
* 256 MB of system RAM for Windows XP SP2 / 512 MB Vista
* 14 GB available hard disk space
* DVD-ROM drive
* 32 MB DirectX 9 compatible video card required
* Sound card, speakers or headphones required for audio
* Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device
* 56.6 Kbps or better modem for online play

Thats your onboard video chipset, which basically means you need to upgrade. I would recommend an Nvidia 7000 series, they generally run between 50 and 100.
