View Full Version : Converting G27 to 357Sig, To those who have done this-
Do your stock .40 S&W magazines work 100%, or did you have to change the follower to make it feed right? Any other problem with the change? What brand of barrel did you install ?
Thanks,
Neal

While I don’t own a G27 I have conversion barrels from KKM and BarSto for the G22 and the G35. With both guns I use the original G22/35 40S&W magazines and they work 100% of the time.
didnt have to change a thing other than barrel and ammo
loandr.
100% reliability to this point about 200-250 rds.
Used a Federal barrel; works fine; sold it when G33s came out.

Had a barrel I bought from CDNN a while back for $50. Any how, it works fine w/ the stock 27 mags. No problems so far, but I dont' have that much rounds through it. I keep switching from the 40 and 357. Plus I don't have that much ammo loaded in sig.
Just got my new stainless 357 SIG barrel for the G27 today. It does NOT feed Georgia Arms Shear Power Plus ammo, which is loaded with Gold Dot bullets. The bullets hang up on the feed ramp. I only tried one magazine, and later I will try the others, but as far as I know, they all have the same follower. This is an early 27 and early 27 magazines. Does Glock have a newer style follower for the G33 mags ?
By the way, they averaged 1301 fps with a SD of 10. Not bad for a barrel that's less than 3.5" long.

I use primarily gold dots in .357 sig w/ no hang ups, my g27 is early 1996 when they just came out so I dont think it being first generation is what causing the problems :-(

No problems with my G-33 Glock BBL that I dropped in my G-27. I am using the .40 magazines and no problems as of yet after several hundred rounds.

my g22 hi cap dont feed well into my fed .357 barrel
got me a couple g31 mag worked fine
Same with me. I had to get a Glock 32 mag to work on the barrel I dropped on the 23. Without it, I had some feeding problems.

I just put about 250 rds through my G33 barrel (in my 27), and while my first range session had some feed hang-ups, this last batch went though no problem! Most of today's shooting was with Federal 125gr JHP loads, and the last rounds out were Speer Gold Dots (which fed badly at the beginning trip) and they went through w/o a hiccup. I realize 250 rds is just a warm-up, but something certainly is better!
Stock 27 mags all the way.
I am a convert to the 357 Sig cartridge now. The 40's just seem lackluster by comparison.

If you don't have any G-33 mags I've found the best G-27 mags have #5 followers.I'm not sure the #5's will work in single stack mags but seem to be the ones to have in G-27 mags.I just traded my Federal Arms stainless 40 barrel for a factory G-27 barrel to use in my G-33.The G-27 barrel doesn't feed as smoothly as the G-33 barrel but the only ammo I've tried in it so far has been Federal Classic 155gr JHP.It worked,it was just not silky smooth like the G-33 barrel.I have an aftermarket barrel in 357 Sig that works but it's a bit rough. It was suppose to made in a shop in Connecticut.
Looks like the 357 Sig-bug has bitten me HARD. Just ordered a compensated 32C barrel to drop in my model 23C. This ought to be fun...lots or pyrotechnics with each trigger stroke!;f

I've been wanting to try a G-32C.Some people have problems with certain single stack 40 S&W 10 round mags in 357 Sig.The 13 and 15 round mags seem to do better. If nothing else 10 round G-32 mags are cheap enough. The Federal 125 JHP have been most accurate for me.They are bit more expensive than other loads.
Yes, I had great luck w/Fed 125gr JHP's myself last time out (with G27/33 bbl). I think the load is going to be my primary use/qualification round for this reason.
