Hi. Perhaps someone here can help me with this? I’ve looked all over the web and can’t find the information I need.

I’ve found an NFA shotgun on a gun auction site. The seller says he has a 14” barrel shotgun produced at the Remington factory. He’s calling it a ‘Remington 870 Secret Service’

I asked the seller if this Secret Service SBS was based off the ‘Express’ version of the 870 (designed by accountants)…Or the hefty ‘Police’ version of the 870 (designed by weapons designers)

He told me to call Remington. So I did, and I can’t get thru to anyone that knows the answer to this question.

Thanks...

Sounds like this one, but I've never heard of a 870 Secret Service:

He says that his gun is in a circa 1978 factory original box marked
'USSS'...United States Secret Service.

The image on your link looks like it.

Holy moly..I just answered my own question..The express versions didn't exist before 1987; so the 78' era SBS must be the hefty 870.

Thank you, for making me think!!
