I love my SP-101 and I think that 5 shots will get the job done most of the time, but even when carrying an autoloader, I like to have spare ammo available.

I used to carry a speedloader in my right front pocket, but it is bulky. I practice with my speedloaders and actually consider myself to be good with them. However, despite alot of practice, I still find that reloading a revolver is much slower than I would like it to be. I also feel that a big drawback to the speedloader is that it requires a higher level manual dexiterity to be used properly, a trait that is known to go south in a hurry when a person is under stress.

I find it easier to carry a BUG. It is flatter. It is easier to conceal than a speedloader and I can point it an pull the trigger as soon as it clears my pocket. Quick and simple.

My P3AT is my current choice. I carry my SP-101 IWB at 3 o'clock with the P3AT in a pocket holster in my left front pocket. I may switch to a Ruger LCP soon. I'm waiting for one to come in to my local gunshop where I am #1 on their list

Does anyone else carry a BUG with their snubby?

I do. I either carry my Kel-tec P32 or one of my NAA Minis.

I Carry Two Snubs. One is IWB at 2:30 the other is in my Week Side Back Pocket. Two Speed Loaders with 357 in Front Right Pocket. Two Speed Strips with 38+P in Week Side Front Pocket. Pepper Spray in Front Pocket with Speed Loaders.Benchmade Knife in Right Leg Tool Pocket. Flashlight in Left Leg Tool Pocket. Wallet in Right Back Pocket and Cell Phone on Belt. Sometimes things get switch around a little but, the Snubs and reloads are in the same place 99% of the time.

Sometimes the snubby IS the back-up, carried with a larger weapon, and sometimes I carry multiple snubbies, but either way, I still carry Speed Strips. This is not an either/or thing; a weapon with no spare ammo is a temporary weapon. I like to carry at least one reload per weapon. FWIW, Speed Strips are not a good way to do a fast complete reload, but are a very fast way to load two rounds very quickly.

I don't usually use speedloaders with my usual SP101 snubbies, because I use magnum ammo, and with the longer magnum cartridges, the factory grip causes clearance problems. (If I shave the grip, to clear the speedloader, I have less surface area to absorb recoil.) I do use speedloaders with my J-frame and my larger sixguns, but neither is carried as often as the SP101s.

I have run into the same thing. When I have used speedloaders I have always kept .38 +p's in them because it is easier to get the .38's into the gun quickly.

I have done exactly this in the past, but nowadays I never carry just one SP101 by itself, so I just use Speed Strips.

Depends on my dress.
(do not wear dresses much.)
Sometimes BUG works.
Sometimes a reload is easier.

At work in the field it is a G29 with G33.
On my own it would be a snub and snub.
Or just a snub and speed strip.
