My suggestion would be to buy a Glock in 9mm and silence that with an AAC Evolution 9 or SWR Shadow silencer.
45 silencers are really large and don't work too well till you fill them with jelly.

I would have to agree with the fact that .45 cans do not really suppress very well. The HEMS-2 is the highest rated can for a .45 at the moment.
The best place to look at different suppressors is http://www.silencerresearch.com This should point you in the right place.
I would also recommend going with a 9mm. I think you will find the SWR Trident-9 the best all-round can for the 9mm with greatest suppression.
Hope this helps!

I have a SWR on a G21. I like it.
For further research, I suggest going here.

my dealer is trying to sell me on a .22 package. I want the 9 but the .22 pkg (walther, barrel & silencer is around 700). Opposed to the 9 silencer being 700 alone.

Take a look at the SWR Spectre (just came out). It can shoot .22, .22mag, .17HMR, and 5.7mm! Truly an all-in-one can. It is a solid stainless package that you can take apart and clean (a must with .22) and is fully auto rated. First round pop is only 117db!!! :faint:

The question for something like that is "WHICH 22lr suppressor?"
22lr are very fun. The Ammo is cheap, some are VERY quiet.
The 9 is going to be louder.
The 45ACP is gong to be louder than the 9mm.
Suppressors are like potato chips, you can't just have one.
I don't have a 9mm CAN, when I get one, it will be a one that works on pistols (with LCD), and subguns. Like http://www.gem-tech.com/MULTIMOUNT.html

It's hard to beat the Trident when it comes to performance and mounting options

Now I want one more than ever.
Have you tried it on a 22lr?

Yes but it's not that great (it's quieter on a 9mm)
I would not want to shoot 22rf through it even if it was very quiet since it's such a dirty round.

Try a Yankee Hill Mite for a .22 can. It comes apart in two pieces so you can clean it yourself. It's kick ass and is almost identical to the AAC prodigy but with better customer service and half the price!
