View Full Version : Gun Ownership in City Limits
Please tell me what the rules are for owning a gun and living in the city limits. I've never lived in the city limits, but I'm thinking of moving soon.
I've tried to find the answer, but keep coming up with nothing helpful.
Information like this makes me wonder about city living.

It all depends what city....
March 14, 2007 HB347 went into effect. That was the preemption bill. Meaning, that gun laws are now uniform across Ohio. This wiped out the 80 some municipalities that had some form of gun control. So unless it's a firearm that is federally prohibited, have at it in the city, in the town or in a township.
If you're in central OH and looking to buy a house, don't forget, I'm the most pro-gun real estate agent around. Check out my signature line.
So HB347 got rid of Columbus's assult weapons ban?

ANY law that wasn't state law dealing with firearms has been booted. End of story.
Do you mean that you don't need to renew Toledo's hand gun card?

State law pre-empts local laws and ordinances from here on out in the state of Ohio. There is no state wide card dealing with firearms short of a CHL.
