Anybody know of a range near Oxford, Mississippi (Ole Miss) where a guy can shoot?

I'll just be visiting . . . not seeking a long-term membership type place.

PS: Seems like this Mississippi group has nothing much to talk about anymore since Nolo graduated and Ox moved out west. I guess that's good---not much to complain about!

I still poke my head in from time to time. As for ranges in the O-town area, there are none. The only one in the county is the LE range just west of town. (No way would you ever stumble on it, even if I tried to give directions. Plus, it's not public use.)

The only thing you could do is ask someone for permission to shoot on their private land.

Thanks, Ox.

Don't stay away so long you lose your accent . . .

Nothing that I know of. Just started working there. It would be a good place to open one if land was not so high there.

Th only problem with opening a range there is the lack of interest. Plenty of shooters in the area, but most everyone has access to some private land somewhere.

I figure that I will always sound 'country' to people in AZ, but will lose part of that and sound 'odd' to everyone back home. I'll be a man without a country.

That is true. I have land and can use several police ranges. I guess that I am lucky in that situation.

Don't know the answer to your question. Just looking in on the Ms. forum. I was born in the dispensary at ol Miss way back in 1948. I have a zillion relatives all around there. Last time I was there we ate in Batesville, then back to Senatobia to see more relatives. Whats that you say? Who cares? oh, ok.

My aunt and uncle live here. And I am now flying out of there with Hospital Wing. We just opened our base here about a month ago.

Still working DCSO also. Had a friend of mine that used to work for Oxford PD, and I now the medical examiner.

They'll know what you mean. It's just south of Oxford. Fried catfish. Good atmosphere. Friendly folks---unlike the places around the downtown Square.

BTW - NRA Guy, I called your office today but you weren't there! I had a question about some local gun stores in your area. Might be making a trip there. Maybe we can catch lunch?

The place looks like a hole in the wall, but it worth the 10 minute drive out of Oxford.

This is a no-BS picture of the place...

I dont think they will let me get away with that. I wish they would sometimes. It gets boring sometimes when nothing is going on. But trauma season is coming up so there wont be much down time.

I'd be proud to be your cuz but I have never lived in Senatobia. My mother was born there and my father was born in Como, I was born at the ol Miss campus but then we moved to Jackson, then Atlanta, Jacksonville FL. then Columbia, S.C. I still have relatives all over Senatobia and all the way to Memphis-about 40? miles away.
Since you have been there I know you have been to the casinos, Sardis dam and the house Elvis was born in etc.
