I'm looking for some plans for constructing Pepper Poppers and a plate rack. Several of my coworkers have the tools for cutting and shaping the steel stock and all I need are the materials and plans.

Can anyone steer me to a source for these plans?

Thanks.

Check here. There's plans for poppers in appendix C. Good luck!

I found the dimensions already, I was hoping to find measured drawings or something similar for building a complete pepper popper skin and rack. Also for building a plate rack.

I suppose I could just look at one, and make some measurements and sketches.

I'm looking to do the same, and was hoping your thread had the goods, but looks like it's a well kept secret eh?

No, I didn't find anything. If you find something, let me know.

Thanks Butch,

I'm not sure about Roland, but I was looking for plans to build something like the picture below.

What you posted a picture of is a plate rack. I'll look around.

Are you guys looking for plans for the pepper popper bases also?

The poppers are pretty straight forward from the ones my club uses. They are just a simple rectangular frame with a "pre load" bolt on the front. If you find a auto reset popper I would be interested in the plans.

Thanks

I've kind of given up on building a plate rack, the one at my club is so shot up, its unusable, and I don't think too many people have any interest in using it.

We have a local guy that builds poppers, and other stuff, and I hope to see him at the section points match this weekend, and see how much he charges to make one. If there is enough interest, we might hold a benefit match to raise funds to purchase a rack.

I've thought about getting those funky plastic self-sealing plates from Dillon, and just attaching them to a 2x4 or 4x4, so I can practice plates with something resembling a rack for the GSSF matches.

I have access to the prop shed at the club, so its not much of an issue to get out some poppers and target stands to practice the other stages.

Greetings:

The cowboy action club that co-uses the range where I used to shoot had some nice 6 or 8" dia. steel plates, mounted on re-bar legs. Very simple design; they were portable and therefore the target array could be varied for width, depth, and number of targets. I've thought often over the past years about plate racks, and other steel targetry options. These were by far the simplest, lightest, most versatile idea I've seen. The targets nest together when in the storage area and can be easily locked up. The plates were inclined slightly towards the shooter to deflect fragments downward. The major difference from poppers or a plate rack is that the plates don't fall down.
