Does anyone here use moving targets during IDPA shoots?
I am looking for suggestions to make my monthly shoot a little more exciting. We are looking for something that moves towards or away from the shooter.

Moving targets are a bit of a sore point for those of us who shot the Carolina Cup last weekend :)

Aint that the truth! One Hole and one Slot in each of the movers in the Store Stage. Dropped 6 points. Man! Hit the VOID key and you better be drawn and on target! But wasn't it FUN???
(TP) Sorry that I didn't get to meet you or Howard at the match. It was a blast (pun intended)! Got to meet D.R. and Barb Middlebrooks and Terry Burba (the guy with TIGGER the black and yellow 1911).
The only real challenge that got under my skin was the STANDARD Stages. I did well on everything else.
Back to the topic! If you start using movers, make sure that they move slower than 50fps. I think that's the speed they were set at the CC.
Later y'all,

I'm sorry I didn't know to look for you as well. I was lucky enough to take first in MM SSP and got bumped to SS, so it'll be a while before I win anything else. :) Oddly enough, I shot the exact same stage (the mover on the wire coming at you diagonally, with the other target bobbing from around the barrel, not the store stage) the previous weekend at Frank's local match. I was -5 on it then and thought I'd do pretty well at the CC since I had a chance to see it previously. I was -10 on it at the CC. ;Q Just goes to show . . .

On your topic, cmu, make sure you don't assess a failure to neutralize if the target disappears at the end of its run, and the shooter doesn't neutralize it. (see the rule book.)

Movers are fun. You just have to make sure that it functions consistantly so that the stage is reliable and fair for each shooter. Try to keep it in the spirit of IDPA.

What got me on the second mover stage was that Damned Car Door. It only opened about 8" before it jerked back. That distracted me, but I did get 4 shots on the mover, but dropped 6pts. I cleaned the swinger and the pop-up. I'll be back! I really think my biggest obsticle was myself and my passion for GOOD MOON! They had some of the best refreshments there Saturday Night at the dinner.
I agree with Mayo that consistancy is the key! I know that the movers at the CC were set to 10fps, but they sure seemed faster.

PS. TP, congrats of the WIN!
