I should say 638 which is the new model of the M38 which is the grand daddy of the 638. The M38 came out about 1960 and was dropped in the early 1970,s. Its the old action with out lock and smaller Jframe than the current 638. The alloy M38 is 14oz. and standard 38 spec. not +p. A rare gun to find in nice shape today near 40 years latter. I lucked into one unfired from a estate sale.
